Out today on all digital platforms - The Well: The Independent Project Records Collection II (link in comments)

For more than four decades, Independent Project Records has embodied what true independent record labels should stand for. This is its past, present and future rolled into two albums-worth of genre-defying, utterly unfettered music. You’ll find them living together, post-punk and ambient, psychedelia and desert surf rock, dream pop and goth rock, well-traveled singer-songwriters and young college students with a penchant for bedroom pop: it speaks to and of the unique vision and relentless drive of both IPR and its artists that The Well plays not like a mishmash but like a coherent, endlessly fascinating statement. New revelations are to be expected with each listen - this compilation promises to mesmerise, electrify and stupefy lifelong fans and newcomers alike.

This is going to be amazing…guaranteed!

Before Jeffrey Clark and Grant-Lee Phillips moved to Los Angeles and started making music as Shiva Burlesque, they were honing their art punk visions in Stockton, California, as Torn Boys. The band had been founded in the early 80s by Clark and fellow maverick Kelly Foley, their partnership forged in the smoky rooms of the local coffee houses. Later, they were joined by Duncan Atkinson on synths and drum machines and, finally, by 19-year old Phillips on guitar. Their brief yet fateful musical alliance was recently uncovered by the album 1983, the first ever release of the genre-defying songs made by the Torn Boys.

Fast forward four decades. We’re getting ready for the Independent Project Records 45th anniversary two-day event: happening this coming week (Wednesday 5 & Thursday 6), it will be filled with special occasions. One of these will be the rebirth of Shiva Burlesque, Jeffrey Clark and Grant-Lee Phillips joining forces again on a stage for the first time in twenty years, welcoming David J (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets) and Dana Gumbiner (Deathray) in their ranks for one night only. To call Shiva Burlesque’s Thursday set unmissable would be an understatement.

And we’ll let you in on a little secret - Kelly Foley will join Jeff and Grant for a unique performance of the Torn Boys gem ‘See Through My Eyes’. Who knows, maybe we’ll all be transported back to 1983…
There are still some tickets left for you to get down to Gold-Diggers and witness the double reunion. And if you’re far from the City of Angels, join our livestream and don’t miss the magic ✨(links in comments)

OUT NOW: Springhouse - From Now to OK.

Originally released as a limited edition CD in 2008, From Now to OK captures shoegaze/dream-pop trio Springhouse exploring a more acoustic, folk rock-indebted sound. Still showing their trademark flair for dreamy melodic textures, the ever-Anglophile Springhouse can be heard embracing the late sixties influence of Nick Drake and The Beatles.

The new expanded edition of the album is available on vinyl, CD and digital formats and includes previously unreleased demos, rarities and live tracks.
