I hope you can come to this performance featuring some rare and wonderful music! This Sunday, March 3rd at 3:00 p.m., Sara . Buechner will play a short (one hour) recital at the Pregones Theater in the Bronx, 575 Walton Avenue. Closest subway is the 2, 4 or 5 train to 149th St. - Grand Concourse (3 minutes walk away). The program is an all-Hispanic one, of piano music by Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Puerto Rican Danzas of Juan Morel Campos, Cuban Danzas by Joaquín Nin-Culmell, and a rare performance of my very own Suite "Escenas callejeras del Bronx" ("Street Scenes of the Bronx"). Admission is free but Sara is asking friends to make a donation for Puerto Rican Hurricane Relief. Even if you cannot attend the recital, please read below for how to donate. Sara is donating and doubling her own fee for this performance, and hoping that one and all can contribute towards making this a great donation for a very important cause. The dazzling Immigrant culture of the Bronx gave me enormous musical inspiration and personal support during some of the most difficult days of my own life, and this is one small way I can say "thanks." At a time when the Real American Dream -- of coming to our country to make a better life for ourselves and our children -- is under siege, I hope that through music and contributions we can make our own statement: We Are United in support of ALL Americans!!! ! GRACIAS ! - - - - People can access the online donations portal at the link below. Checks should be made out to Pregones/PRTT with memo line MásPorPuertoRico and may be brought to the theater or mailed to them at Pregones/PRTT - 571-575 Walton Avenue, The Bronx, NY 10451 Link:
What about Bronx Buzz addressing Fordham University's racist enrollment practices for Foundational US Black students. Fordham's own BHM newspaper article points to a policy and strategy of racism for US Blacks only! You know about the term "people of color" to usher in others while suppressing enrollment for US Blacks at less than 4%. That phrase needs to go away because it means recent generations mostly of Hispanics, Asians and East Indians. It leaves out US Blacks whose ancestors were here for the founding of this nation. Does Fordham deserve federal funding for racist behavior since 1968? Please read the article. Thanks! Blacks.initiatie
