Contamination is a ground-breaking, independently produced film made entirely in Alberta by Brimstone Pictures. It features active and retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces and Reserves both in front of and behind the camera. The production is the first in Canadian history to receive support from the Canadian Armed Forces and the Minister of Defense to cast an active CAF member in a leading role - Major Thomas Sunderland.
“Our goal with Contamination is to showcase Alberta talent while creating new career pathways for veterans beyond their service,” said Neil Chase, writer and co-director of the film. “This movie represents local storytelling, local collaboration, and local impact.”
“This isn’t just a film release - it’s a movement,” added Preston Ewasiuk, the film’s producer. “We want the premiere and subsequent theatrical showings of Contamination to be a community-driven celebration of film making and service. Our screenings will fill seats and fill shelves for the people who need it most.”
Contamination will premiere in Alberta this fall with public and media screenings, and the filmmakers are currently in discussions with Canadian and US festivals, venues, and media outlets to bring the film to audiences across North America.
