SHE MARRIED THE MAN WHO CATFISHED HER AND THEN DISAPPEARED. WHERE IS JASMINE?

THE DISAPPEARANCE OF JASMINE AMORETTE-NICOLE CALLOWAY
Gadsden, Alabama — 2017

The disappearance of Jasmine Amorette-Nicole Calloway is a case woven with deception, violence, heartbreak, and unanswered questions.

Jasmine grew up in Gadsden, Alabama as the oldest of two children. A shy but friendly girl, she was close with her family. In 2009, Jasmine began chatting online with a woman named Laura from Michigan. Soon after, Jasmine received a message from Laura’s brother, Mark Host, claiming Laura was gravely ill in the hospital.

Determined to help her online friend, Jasmine packed her things and traveled to Michigan. But when she arrived, Mark told her that Laura had died. Grieving and far from home, Jasmine bonded with Mark, who was a father of three. She decided to stay in Michigan.

On August 30, 2011, Jasmine and Mark were married in a courthouse. The next year, they welcomed a daughter together. After several moves, they settled in a mobile home in Houghton Lakes, Michigan. There, they met Rachel Sears, a woman who lived in the same trailer park. Rachel spent more and more time with the couple until she eventually moved in with them.

Soon after, Jasmine discovered she was pregnant again. To her shock, Rachel was also pregnant by Mark. Jasmine gave birth to her second daughter in September 2012, while Rachel gave birth two months later.

Over time, Jasmine began rarely communicating with her family in Alabama. Eventually, Jasmine, Mark, their children, and Rachel moved back to Gadsden. Jasmine gave birth to a third daughter, and her family began noticing troubling signs of physical abuse. They convinced her to stay with them for a while, away from Mark.

A few months later, Jasmine told her family she was visiting a friend in Texas. She left her children with her parents and was given a ride to the bus station. But Jasmine never went to Texas. She rode the bus only one stop, then returned to Alabama. After that, she disappeared.

Calls from her brother Josh went unanswered. The text messages they did receive didn’t sound like her. Mark insisted she was in Texas, but her family didn’t believe him.

In September 2017, Jasmine’s parents demanded law enforcement check Mark’s home at 901 Noccalula Drive. Police complied, and her parents got only a brief glimpse of Jasmine, escorted by Rachel. It would be the last time they ever saw her.

Years later, the truth unraveled. The mysterious “Laura” had never existed—Mark himself had catfished Jasmine from the beginning. He manipulated her into leaving home, marrying him, and ultimately cutting ties with her family. Investigators also discovered that Mark had a lengthy criminal record.

In 2021, Mark and Rachel were both arrested on r**e and sexual abuse charges and extradited to Alabama. Despite those arrests, no one has ever been charged in Jasmine’s disappearance.

A devoted mother of three daughters. A woman misled, isolated, and abused. A family still searching for answers.

Jasmine is described as 5'6" tall and weighing about 145 pounds at the time of her disappearance.

What happened after Jasmine stepped off that bus and returned to Alabama?
Why did the messages sent from her phone stop sounding like her?
And how did a woman with three children vanish without a single verified trace?

Her daughters deserved their mother. Her family deserved the truth. Jasmine deserved safety, protection, and a life free from manipulation and violence.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Gadsden Police or Crime Stoppers at 215-STOP (7867) or 1-833-AL1-STOP.
