As the National Government undertakes the commendable step of constructing an electricity power station in Busia County to stabilize the power supply and reduce frequent outages, it is imperative that the County Government of Busia fulfills its constitutional mandate of providing essential services to the people.
It is deeply alarming that for many months now, since the current administration came to power, residents of Busia town Municipality have had to endure dry taps. Access to clean and reliable water is a basic human right, not a privilege. The continued water crisis is a gross failure of leadership, planning, and accountability at the county level. Residents cannot and should not be asked to wait any longer.
In addition to the water crisis, our hospitals continue to suffer from a shortage of drugs and critical healthcare services, putting lives at risk. The County Government of Busia has clearly failed in its duty and has effectively slept on the job while people suffer. The people of Busia deserve better. They demand action, not excuses.
