The Rise of the 'POS Generation': Embracing the New 'Normal' in Nigeria

A new wave of Nigerian graduates has been dubbed the 'POS generation', a term that may carry stigma, but should instead be a badge of pride. In a society where opportunities are scarce, these young individuals are taking matters into their own hands, doing odd jobs and hustling to make ends meet.

The truth is, not all hands are equal, and money knows no class. What matters most is the effort, the resilience, and the determination to succeed. Education, though not a guarantee of success, is a valuable asset that equips individuals with the skills and knowledge to navigate the world.

To all the Nigerian graduates out there, don't be ashamed of your efforts. Be proud of what you've achieved, and know that situations will normalize. Fortune may favor those who are cunning, but it's the hardworking, educated, and principled individuals who will ultimately build a better future.

Class is permanent, but circumstances are temporary. Let's celebrate the 'POS generation' for their grit, their determination, and their refusal to give up.

In Nigeria's current system, the pursuit of political office has become a costly endeavor, with aspirants often needing deep pockets to secure positions of power. This raises a disturbing question: how can leaders truly serve the people when their primary concern is recouping their investment? The emphasis on financial capacity over genuine service to the community undermines the very essence of public office. It's time for Nigerians to demand a shift towards a more inclusive and accountable system, where leadership is driven by merit and dedication rather than wealth. By promoting transparency, accountability, and civic engagement, citizens can help break the cycle of capitalist-driven politics and foster a government that truly serves the people.

📸✨ Did you know that in 1979, a fearless photographer captured one of the most incredible engineering moments ever seen in New York? 🏙️🚁

Renowned photographer Peter B. Kaplan embarked on a daring 12-day mission 📆 to document the installation of a massive 108-meter (360 ft) communication antenna 📡 on top of the North Tower of the original World Trade Center 🏗️. The team of brave workers climbed to dizzying heights — over 1,700 feet (520+ meters) above Manhattan’s bustling streets 🗽.

To achieve his breathtaking shots, Kaplan used fisheye lenses and extended poles ranging from 17 to 45 feet (5.2–13.8 meters) 🎥📍. This creative technique allowed him to capture perspectives that few people on Earth had ever seen — or even dared to imagine 🌍🔭.

The antenna, installed in 1978–1979, became the main broadcasting hub for New York's TV stations 📺, replacing the Empire State Building’s transmitter. It wasn’t just a technical achievement — it became a major financial boost for the building's owners 💰.

According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), the addition of this antenna officially extended the North Tower’s height to 1,727 ft (around 527–538 meters), briefly making it the tallest structure in the world at the time 🌐🏆.

Kaplan’s images remain historical treasures, showcasing both the courage of the workers and the pioneering spirit of urban architecture 💡🧠. His work has been featured in institutions like the Smithsonian, preserving this extraordinary moment for future generations 📚🖼️.
