When I met this weekend at the , I made it a point to tell him how amazing his track “White Turns To Grey” is. It’s truly a shame most of the world hasn’t heard the album that it appeared on ‘Love For Sale’, since it was shelved by his label Interscope & never saw the light of day. No streaming nor release. Do yourself a favor and find it somehow/someway…it’s truly divine! Needless to say I was overjoyed when Bilal did an amazing version of the aforementioned as his penultimate song (right before “Soul Sista, of course) to close out the festival. Vocal goosebumps aplenty. Those that remained on the streets of Downtown Pittsburgh on a late work night where truly blessed to heard it belted out with all its many changes under the moonlit sky. Incredible! 🙌🏼 Always praise to the Janis, Orlando, and the entire staff for bringing the festival to fruition for another stellar year. So many moving parts, bur y’all make it look seamless. Pittsburgh and surrounding environs. Today kicks off the 15th annual festivities! Ooh wee! Honored to be rocking another year for my famalam at the . “Intermission” tonight at the center. Followed by a SOLD OUT George Benson Tribute mañana & then I rock right after the show for “A Taste Of Jazz.” My fellow UNION bredren + are also playing throughout the weekend. Oh, and, a few artists you may know:) Bilal, Eric Benet, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Jazzmeia Horn, Brandford Marsalis, Kandace Springs, Be’La Dona, Michael Mayo. Keith David. Need I say more? 1-2-3-4-FIVE! Time flies when you’re playing music that speaks to your soul. & said soul-enriching selections just so happen to resonate w/ folks spanning the globe. A blessing that this little “progrum” we call ‘Breakfast Jammies’ is still stronger than ever & that our tribe (The Berry Bunch) continues to flourish. Super love to everyone that takes time out their respective (busy) days to come in & rock with us on the regular. The support is nothing short of incredible! Curious of my origin story? Well ,I got to break it down to my former WYEP cohort inside of his ‘Soul Pod.’ We drive past my old abode in Sq. Hill. My high school alma mater, Allderdice A few iterations of a record-shop I co-owned, 720 Records (hence the name). & kibbitz about how I got into this world of music, sparked by a love of all things radio at 11 years old. Would be remiss if I didn’t add a few bits about my Twitch experience, as well. Names carved into a block on buildings located in the Hill District neighborhood-Pittsburgh, PA. We are widely known to the world as a sports city but “We Got The Jazz”, too. Don’t get it twisted! Rich in history & legendary artists that hail from these very parts. The video above pays homage to many of our greats. Growing up in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh there were older cats that used to make trips to NYC & bring back (KISS FM) tapes to the Burgh. I acquired of few of said tapes on Murray Ave in the mid-80s & they changed my life. Radio is my true love (even before rocking crowds in person) so one can only imagine that it was surreal to finally meet the (GREAT) man in the funky fresh flesh almost 40 years later! Salute to the Propmaster Uncle Red!

Things were moving in a super rapid manner backstage after the X Pittsburgh Symphony show last week here in our fair city of Pittsburgh, PA…but I was glad to be able to dap up & capture a quick flick w/ one of my top-tier MC heroes. Fun Fact: I used to rhyme before my DJ career took off.:) Everything was moving so fast that I didn’t even get to slide to my normal left side of the frame. 😂 The show was amazing on myriad levels. The symphonic accompaniment running through Illmatic. My brother w/ the live cut recreations. A cameo from the great . The surprise post-Illmatic medley of bangers. Superb!

I feel like this is album cover worthy material here! “ Two Italiano’s w/ checks (San Francisco Harvey)” 😂 Purple checks that is! 😂 My TWITCH brother & legendary mixtape/production/DJ mastermind . When I tell you it was a weekend in Pittsburgh! Between Nas (w/ Green on the wheels) & the Pittsburgh Symphony + the after party w/ myself, Green + . Followed by EPMD the next day. When it rains it pours! I can’t tell how you how many folks came up to me while you were spinning asking if you had any of the old tapes to cop. They live on as memory markers, brother! What a time to be alive! Always great to chill for a bit when you slide though. Salute to the entire Gang Green!

Backstage w/ the legendary Green-Eyed Bandit himself . This brother’s contributions to Hip-Hop both behind the boards & vocally are countless + prolific. Him & murked the Hill District Arts Festival yesterday. W/ (formerly known as Diamond J) behind the wheels. Ooh wee! That “Peter Piper” routine! Lord!!! You have to see it! I was too transfixed to capture. 😂 Was an honor to open up for them for the second time in the last decade. First time w/ me & on the mic & last night with my UNION bredren & . I had to remind Erick that they were here on 2016 at the for the 30th Anniversary of “Strictly Business” after the show as he said on the back a few times that they hadn’t been here in 25 years. The HILL came out for Erick & Parrish! Was a lovely day all around. Love to the family for alway putting on such an an amazing FREE event for the community. ♥️
