I'm proofing my next podcast that's dropping on Thursday.

It's gooooood!!!!

Ber-Henda, the timing of this release is perfect.

We recorded January of this year. In our episode, one of the things we talked about is liking ourselves and I divulged that I was working with my coach on liking myself. There was a lot of me that I didn't like. Looking back, I know why.

9 months later, I'm proofing this podcast almost to the day.

Guess what... I can look in the mirror and I love who is looking back at me.

I love when my own material speaks to me.

But it begs the question... how many of us walk around not liking who we are?

Do you? Do you like you? Better yet, do you love who you are?

I don't ask questions I don't want to know the answer to. So tell me. Here, in my messages, hit my phone up, send a smoke signal.

I was lost in thought as soon as I pulled out of my driveway. I get behind the wheel and take a deep breath and I just drive. Outside of my slow morning routine, this is usually the time that I relax and think.

Just like most of my internal dialogue, I’m processing what I didn’t get done. Did I send that email? I s**t you not, there’s been times I write out an entire email and walk away without hitting send. Oftentimes, I don’t realize I didn’t hit send until I check to see why they didn’t reply. Oh… that’s why.

I think about where we’re at with books and what my people need from me. I think about systems that need implemented and I mentally prioritize what’s important now and what can wait.

Our subconscious dictates most of our decision making. Which doesn’t actually feel like decision making when you’re running on auto-pilot. Which exactly what the subconscious is. You could keep doing what you’ve been doing or you could stop going through the motions of wanting to write the damn book and wanting to publish the damn book but never doing any of that… because the knee jerk is auto-pilot.

Going through the motions.

You don’t have to go through the motions…

You don’t have to give yourself excuses for why you don’t have time…

You can choose to change your patterns and write the damn book!

Imagine yourself...

Working with someone who is going to cheer you on and keep you motivated to write each week.

Imagine creating that book you’re dreaming of..

Imagine keeping the promise you made to YOURSELF to get the damn book done.

You know your book will create impact. And change. You know what you have to offer will help someone else.

And in the meantime? While you’re finally doing it?

The story you’re writing for others, you’ll realize that in the process, you’ll also find another piece of yourself.

Stop going through the motions. This isn’t Groundhog Day.

🛑 STOP. Before you even think of hiring an illustrator, do this first:

✅ Make sure you have a vision for your illustrations. Jot down details about your characters—what they should look like, what they’re wearing, their skin tone, their hair, etc. This will help you give clear direction to your illustrator and ensure they bring your vision to life! 🖍️📚

But that’s not all—she’s a woman of many talents herself. She plays multiple instruments, executive director at Cumberland Valley School of Music, and is a proud puppy lover.
