From Nigeria to Houston – and straight to the WorldFest office!

✨ A WorldFest Welcome! 🎬
What a joy to have Banji Adesanmi, writer and producer of 5365 Days, stop by the WorldFest office today to pick up his Silver Remi Award in Low Budget Film Productions (with Inspaya Studios, directed by Biodun Stephens). Visiting from Nigeria, Banji shared stories from his time here at the festival – including meeting Hunter Todd at a director’s dinner, where he felt the depth of Hunter’s presence and passion for film.

We first met Banji when his 2022 film Strangers screened at WorldFest-Houston 2023, winning a Gold Remi for Foreign Film and becoming a festival favorite. 5365 Days tells the story of an engaged young man whose casual visit to a heartbroken friend sets off a journey full of ambiguity, surprises, and uncertainty.

Even more exciting – Banji’s next project just wrapped editing yesterday, and he plans to enter it this month, hoping for another premiere at WorldFest59. We can’t wait to see what’s next! 🌍🎥

Word is getting around that Producer Tom McPhee has directly challenged Kevin Smith and his Netflix He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series to an Animation Slam at , San Antonio's Animalis Fabula Film Festival on Friday, November 28, 2025!

This would be a 12 round epic battle royal with cheese. 12 x 1 minute clips of the animal characters in each series doing epic transforming battle scenes, and so much more to win over the crowd - think, "a new form of animated Gladiatorial mayhem."

The audience in the house will vote after each round as well as after the single episode of each series at the end of the contest, and the winner of the coveted Animation Slam at AniFab 25 will get a massive trophy and can pound their chests as animals do in victory.

It is our understanding McPhee is now goading Kevin Smith by telling the press about it and he's dropping DM's in Smith's phone.

McPhee's like; "Let's raise some dough for the animals Kevin!" All donations from this event will be split among the animal rescue nonprofits participating in AniFab 25. More about AniFab here: https://www.animalisfabula.org/
