My girlfriend was away for work, I had a few days off, I didn't have any video games to keep me entertained, movies to watch, books to read or bananas to eat. I always thought her decorative wooden logs needed something more, so bought a pack of googly eyes and black and white stickers and surprised her when she got home.

I know this is exceptionally dull. I like to write the date on every lamp I install. To my surprise this one lasted 10.5 years. It was installed in a totally enclosed ceiling lighting fixture in a landlocked (windowless) upstairs hallway.
Kids leave it on an estimated 4 hours a day. Accounting for vacations and general time away that is 14,000 hours. At a rated 300mA that is $11.47 at our rate of 27.3cents/kWh. No bananas in the house M41

My husband came home from work yesterday, walked into the kitchen, stopped dead in his tracks and said "What happened to our window?" in the most confused voice ever.
I've been secretly working on this macrame curtain for three weeks, teaching myself all the knots from YouTube videos during my lunch breaks. Our old kitchen window desperately needed something to give it more personality, but regular curtains felt too boring and blinds blocked out all the natural light I love for my plants.
The whole project started when I inherited a massive box of macrame cord from my neighbor who was downsizing. She'd bought it years ago for a project she never finished, and I couldn't resist the challenge of learning something completely new. My fingers were so sore the first week from all the repetitive knotting, but once I got into the rhythm it became almost meditative.
The plant holders were actually an accident - I made them too small for the pots I originally planned to use, but they turned out perfect for these little trailing plants that needed a sunny spot. I've been sharing progress photos in some of the fiber arts groups on the Tedooo app where I get supplies, and people keep asking if I take custom orders.
My husband's initial shock has turned into genuine pride - he keeps pointing it out to anyone who visits, like he had anything to do with it. But honestly, seeing how it transforms the whole kitchen with morning light filtering through makes all those hours of knotting totally worth it

What have ya'll done for a 100+ year old home whose once lovely (I assume) heart pine floors are scratched and damaged but are too thin (previously sanded down) to refinish again.? Do we just suck it up and replace? And if so with what?

Well, my AC blower motor and fan went out last night. Can't be fixed until tomorrow. It is just under 90° in my house. I grew up without AC, but that was decades ago. Heat really bothers many of us old folks. A smart person would just order delivery, right? That was my plan all day. Suddenly, I decided that I HAD to have spaghetti with a garlic shrimp sauce. I have never had it before, never seen it, and certainly had no idea how to make it...but I did anyway. A version of it, I guess. Sweat dripped off my face as I'm made and then ate it. Gordon Ramsey would've kicked me out of the kitchen! Anyway, I defrosted some breadsticks and made some garlic butter. It all turned out delicious!
Note, I opened a btl of Kendall-Jackson chardonnay to add just a little to my garlic sauce. I forgot all about it. I decided I'll just drink it. I'm a very light holiday type drinker. I'm also on my 2nd glass! Maybe the wine will help me not notice that I'm marinating in my own sweat when I go to bed! I'm starting to think that wine may make me talk to much...
I didn't think of it before, but looking at the photo, I should've added some asparagus or something for color. Oops, there I go talking again.

The center hallway of my 100+ yo folk Victorian originally had wallpaper glued to cheesecloth that was tacked to the exposed boards with varnised beadboard on the bottom Previous owner(s) had covered upper wall surface with sheetrock that was almost level with the doorframes and extended beyond the molding along the top of the beadboard. I read that Beaverboard had been used in old houses to cover walls and was thinking about using 1/8” tempered fiberboard so I don’t have to remove old door frames and molding.
