Colonialism is the pursuing, establishing and maintaining of control and exploitation of people and of resources by a foreign group.
When I read this definition, the situation of my beloved island, Sardinia, comes to mind.
We know that all types of control have become more subtle, less transparent and understandable for years now, at least to people who have remained with the traditional concepts of power, control and colonialism.
We must completely review the notions we were used to.
And so when I read colonialism, I think of my Sardinia: the installation of 1200 offshore wind turbines, 3000 onshore wind turbines and the invasion of 70,000 hectares of land with photovoltaic panels will allow the production of 80% of the energy needs of all of Italy in one place... my Sardinia!
But who authorized this abomination?
The increase in investments in wind energy in Sardinia has its roots in the period of the Draghi government (2021-2022).
During this mandate, the then Prime Minister Mario Draghi, together with the Minister of Ecological Transition Roberto Cingolani, adopted an aggressive energy policy, aimed at transforming the island into an energy hub for the rest of the country.
The decree of the Draghi government, often called "energy commissionership", bypassed many of the normal local authorization procedures, imposing from above the construction of wind and photovoltaic plants.
That's right, the great Draghi, who while putting masks on everyone, silently proceeded with another maneuver of territorial and economic colonization.
The installation of wind turbines at sea will certainly have serious consequences on the environment, while the destination of hectares of land to photovoltaics, takes away pastures and cuts the possibility of reforesting the island, tormented every year by very serious fires.
In the meantime, 102 million euros have been allocated by the Italian government to deal with a devastating drought this year that is affecting various regions. A state of disaster has already been declared in Sardinia. In the middle of the tourist season. And with agricultural and pastoral businesses on their knees. Well, of those 102 million to Sardinia, not a single euro has been allocated.
Sorry, but something doesn't add up.
Even the most ignorant person knows that trees and crops contribute to maintaining an ecosystem of both the soil and the climate: basically when you plant trees, a process begins that leads to rain (naturally) and makes the soil more fertile.
My Sardinia has always had a water problem and they decide to plant wind turbines and cover the territory with photovoltaic panels, instead of making a permaculture plan?
Something doesn't add up... actually, sorry, all the accounts of the big companies that will profit from this energy colonialism, add up and add up very well....
I believe that no territory should be violated in this way for the national benefit, which in reality is the benefit of private companies.
I write this post in English, hoping that people and organizations can be mobilized at an international level, because what is happening to my Sardinia and to us Sardinians could happen to anyone in the name of green energy, which is not green!
If you can, spread the post and move the consciences of the whole world!
I hope you have or will have the opportunity to get to know my splendid island... cradle of traditions and ancient wisdom... with beaches and coasts that have nothing to envy of any place in the world... ..where hospitality is sacred and sharing is in our DNA.
