[SPR 012 Chacho - You Told me Once]

“You Told me Once” is Chacho’s debut solo album. Previously active with her band , Chacho now steps out on her own, exploring a more personal and experimental sound that blends electronic textures with alternative rock influences. “You Told me Once” is about those things you never forget. The things you truly believe, just because you are a child, so whatever you’re told becomes the truth. And you believe it. Very strongly. This album dives into childhood memories : what remains, what fades and the house of her early years that once felt so big and magical. Chacho wanted the intro to feel cinematic with echoes from the past, opening the door to a world where anything could happen : darker, but also full of light. Floating voices, heavy yet melodic sounds and bursts of joy : like when your childhood bike races down the hill and you’re not sure if you’re flying or about to fall. This album carries the memories and the strange comfort of old sounds, but it also reaches beyond that: It is an act of resilience, infused with a feminist energy that runs through the songs and their themes. All in all, “You Told me Once” is for you, because we were all children once.

“Living in my House” is part of the upcoming debut album You Told me Once by Chacho. Once upon a time, she was a princess in a little house. Far too little, in fact. The track explores childhood, dreams, and memories. Her house used to feel so big and magical. Now… it is gone. She carries an airy pop-rock energy, where bright melodies hide more delicate tones. Behind the choruses that sound almost cheerful, a subtle melancholy comes through.

[NEW SPR FAMILY MEMBER]

The seasons might be changing, but that also means it’s time to get cozy with new music. And we have the perfect artist just for that… Welcome the newest SPR Family Member, Chacho!

Chacho is a musician and graphic designer from Switzerland. Her music merges experimental electronic sounds with poetic textures often built around repetitions, lush delays, and crunchy guitar lines that disrupt the balance. It evokes a sense of childlike wonder intertwined with subtle unease, capturing the magic and tension of memories. Deeply tied to her background in graphic design, her work explores intimacy, poetry, and memories through sound and visual expression.

More announcements coming in the next weeks. But for now, save the date for Friday 26.09.25 bc it may or may not be her first single release via SPR (^_-)-☆

[SPR 010 - MFSP 2025]

Surprise! Here comes our tenth release 🥲

Safe Space Records has opened the doors to their universe and invited artists near and dear to their hearts to exhibit their musical worlds. The label’s second compilation album “MFSP 2025” is a haven of SPR artists and other talented musicians inside each of their bubbles in Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin, Paris, and Stockholm. It’s a reflection of the different temperaments they’ve uncovered in the pop music landscape ~ new collaborations, exciting artist pseudonyms, and unique styles. An album that spans across sounds and genres such as melancholic ambient, guitar-driven pop, and late-night club sounds. But what really connects the new worlds of the compilation is a shared love for exploring unconventional approaches to pop music. Enjoy.

[SPR 009] NIIX - ocean / at bay

NIIX’s double-single EP is here!! We are so happy about this release together and celebrating today with two fab remixes from talented UK-based producers.

First up, ‘s DaiSu wraps ‘ocean’ in euphoric breaks + swirling vocals. Speaking about their remix, they said: “The first bit of ‘ocean’ that really spoke to me was the rippling pad, which I ended up building my remix around. NIIX’s vocals also really stood out; I’ve tried to keep some of the original’s call-and-response vibe, with a layered vocal chop running through the background.”

For ‘at bay’, Manchester-based, .radio resident Qwirk brings the brooding bass: “I was inspired by some of the early darkside dubstep (El-B, Horsepower Productions, Slaughter Mob, etc.) when working on this. I wanted to mix skippy percussion and a heavy sub with the lush vocals and chords from the original.”

[SPR 009-S2] NIIX - at bay

NIIX’s forthcoming EP release is an introduction to her sonic universe - thumping kicks and driving basslines meet soaring vocal melodies with storytelling lyrics.

While her last single, ‘ocean,’ represents the liberating realization of needing to leave a relationship, ‘at bay’ sees this reality sink in. The earnest vocals and yearning keys build up to a halftime jungle flip, representing the conflict of emotions. 

Whilst all things must run their course, it doesn’t mean it’s not still sad.

NIIX embraces sadgirl spring with ‘ocean / at bay’, her hotly-anticipated new record. The double single traverses the ebb and flow of a relationship reaching its end, and the conflicting emotions that come with that. ‘ocean’ represents the liberating realisation of needing to be alone. a track for crying in the club, fusing ethereal vocals + floaty synths akin to Oklou with Shygirl-inspired bone-rattling drums.

[NEW SPR FAMILY MEMBER]

We are excited to welcome Manchester-born, London-based NIIX to the Safe Space Records family! Our worlds collided on a cute Dischord channel a few months back ~~ fast-forward to now, and we are anticipating her double single release via SPR. 🫂

NIIX is a singer, producer and DJ bringing you cry in the club (ethe)realness.

Her earnest vocals tell stories of love + loss to the backdrop of euphoric synths + Shygirl-esque drums, blending genres much like her DJ sets. Her hunger for anything bassy + percussive has been seen at the likes of Keep Hush + Gottwood Festival, paired with her unmatched energy behind the decks.

NIIX brings this drive + passion to all of her projects, with her debut self-released EP ‘I’ making several Spotify editorial playlists, alongside radio play on NTS + BBC Introducing.

Community is also at the forefront of NIIX’s mission, using radio residencies on Sister Midnight FM, Subtle + Voices Radio to spotlight underrepresented artists from across the globe. She is also co-founder of Dubs Club, a national meet-up group for marginalised communities to come together + share their electronic music productions.
