Day 23 of Bourbon Heritage Month takes us straight down to Blanco, TX, where the good folks at Milam & Greene Whiskey just dropped something special: their brand-new Provisions Bourbon, First Edition Batch Edwards Plateau (Autumn 2025).

This pour is a reminder that you don’t have to choose between Kentucky tradition and Texas grit, you can have both in one glass.

Tasting Notes:
•Nose: Honey sweetness, toasted oak, and a whisper of stone fruit.
•Palate: Waves of warm baking spice, rich caramel, and a lively rye kick that keeps it bold.
•Finish: Long, balanced, and smooth enough for the dinner table but with enough backbone for a campfire under Texas stars.

And here’s the kicker, all this for under $40. That’s a steal, y’all. This bottle doesn’t just look good on the shelf, it earns its spot. I can promise you this won’t be the last time I reach for it.

Big thanks to Milam & Greene Whiskey for sending this one my way. Y’all are proving once again that y’all know how to do bourbon right. Cheers Y’all!

So, what’s your go-to bottle under $40 that punches way above its weight?

It’s Day 25 of Bourbon Heritage Month and tonight’s pour is Smooth Ambler Old Scout Batch 1, and it just feels right surrounded by a little fall decor.

At 99 proof, it hits that sweet spot caramel and vanilla on the nose, a good dose of oak and spice on the palate, and a finish that sticks around longer than these Texas summers. There’s something about a first batch that makes it feel a little more meaningful, like you’re sipping on the start of a new season.

Here’s to crisp evenings, falling leaves, and pours worth slowing down for. Happy Fall, Y’all!

Day 21 of Bourbon Heritage Month brings something a little different into the glass, RD One Kentucky Straight Bourbon finished with Brazilian Amburana Wood.

Amburana has a way of making its presence known, and this pour is no exception. Sweet baking spice, warm cinnamon, and a touch of vanilla cream swirl together with the classic Kentucky bourbon backbone. At 110 proof, it carries enough heat to keep things bold while still letting those unique wood notes shine.

It’s pours like this that make Bourbon Heritage Month so fun. This month is not just celebrating tradition, but also enjoying the innovation that keeps whiskey exciting.

Cheers Y’all!

Have you tried any amburana finished bourbons yet?

Day 20 of Bourbon Heritage Month has me looking forward to fall. We’re just a couple of days away, and I can already feel the shift, even if the Texas heat hasn’t gotten the memo yet. Cooler evenings, football on the TV, and a pour in hand… that’s the kind of season I wait all year for.

Tonight, that pour is Samuel Maverick Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Bold yet approachable, this San Antonio born bourbon carries a richness that pairs perfectly with the change of seasons. Hints of oak, caramel, and spice remind me why Texas whiskey continues to carve its own place in the bourbon world.

Here’s to good whiskey and cooler nights ahead. What bottle are you reaching for as fall rolls in?

On Day 19 of Bourbon Heritage Month, I’m enjoying a classic, Buffalo Trace Bourbon. It’s the quintessential pour: approachable, reliable, and a staple in any collection.

This weekend I packed a bottle for a long-weekend getaway to Glen Rose, TX, better known as the Moonshine Capital of Texas. With its history, charm, and plenty of small-town character, it’s the perfect backdrop for a pour that defines Kentucky bourbon tradition.

What bottle are you packing for your next getaway?

It’s Day 18 Bourbon Heritage Month and I felt like having a taste off.

Gold, Silver, and Bronze… usually that means 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. But when it comes to these three NULU Straight Bourbons, there’s no podium finish, each one holds its own with character and flavor that can stand toe-to-toe.

Toasted, Single Barrel, and Reserve. Three different profiles, three different experiences, and none of them taking a back seat to the other.

Tonight though, my glass is filled with the Toasted Bourbon. Sweet oak, warm spice, and that smooth layered depth that makes toasted barrels such a treat. It’s the kind of pour that doesn’t just finish strong, it makes you want to pour another.

No medals needed. Just good bourbon.

That is scary.Cheers Y’all!

For Day 17 of Bourbon Heritage Month, I’m pouring something new to me, Jefferson’s Reserve Cask Strength at a bold 130 proof. This bottle doesn’t just sip bold, it commands attention.

The nose is rich with brown sugar and toasted oak, the palate brings layers of vanilla and ripe fruit, and the finish lingers with spice and honeyed warmth. It’s the kind of pour that reminds you why cask strength bourbon has such a loyal following.

Big thanks to for sending this bottle my way. This one has definitely earned a spot on the shelf.

On Day 16 of Bourbon Heritage Month, I’m sipping Still Austin’s Bottled-in-Bond Red Corn Bourbon, which has quickly become one of my favorite annual Texas releases.

There’s something special about the way they showcase heirloom red corn, the deep, earthy sweetness layered with spice and a rich, full body that stands tall at 100 proof. It’s uniquely Texan: bold yet balanced, and a reminder of just how far Texas whiskey has come.

This pour doesn’t just check the boxes of Bottled-in-Bond, it raises the bar for what Texas bourbon can be. If you see this one on the shelf, don’t hesitate. It’s the kind of release you’ll want to savor now and tuck away for later.

Have you tried any of Still Austin’s Bottled-in-Bond series yet?
