Standing quietly in the Eastern Kumaon Himalayas near Munsiyari, the Panchachuli (पंचाचुली) peaks rise like verses written in snow.
These five sacred summits, nestled in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district, carry a legend as old as time itself. It is believed that the Pandavas cooked their final meal here, at five stone hearths - chulis - before beginning their ascent to heaven.
Beyond myth, Panchachuli shapes the land it watches over, forming a natural watershed between the Gori Ganga and Darmaganga valleys. Towering above them all, Panchachuli II, at 6,904 meters, stands as the silent guardian of the range.
