Hello everyone, PSA...

As some of you know or may have noticed we are taking a break from our regular broadcasting for a bit. We are taking some time off to rest, restructure, rethink and finalise some plans that have been on going for a while.

Doing radio is extremely fun but also very time consuming and a feeling of always playing catch up, especially financially. With busy jobs and lives, doing it to the standard we want isn't always possible.
We are so happy with the friends and community that has come around as a result of the station and all the people we have met and come to do a show so far, it has been amazing to meet you all.

This isn't the end of Rainy City, we will still be doing events and other things (more to come) until we re-emerge with fresh eyes and ideas!

Love to everyone who has supported us so far !

Digby & Tommy x

One third of our co-pro team for The Loft on the 28th… we’re as happy as ever to welcome back

1.5 years in the making, Rainy City started, as pretty much all independent stations do, as a passion project out of a humble front room in Old Trafford. Back in the days of the fridge magnets and kitchen photo shoots! A few sets from the years past have been selected of some of Manchesters excellent musical produce. Among them + + , , and so many more..

The second home to rainy city was in Cheetham Hill. A lovely spot for the station as it found its feet in an area that is such a hub for night life in MCR. (DBA, TWH) Until moving to in Chorlton in December. A real pillar in the young person arts community for the City.
Today the station continues to support the Manchester music scene any way it can. It’s a pleasure to link up once again at for a night of banging tunes and good vibes when we welcome on the 28th.

Link to tickets in our Bio 🎫🎫 can’t wait to see you all on the floor 👯‍♂️

🔸 20:00 Last Minute Film Club with Alex .gibbon

On this episode of Last Minute Film Club, I am joined by Alex Gibbon to discuss two classics of q***r Spanish cinema from the period of la transición – the socio-political transition towards democracy during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
From the bustling streets and balconies of Barcelona’s El Raval, Ventura Pons’ documentary Ocaña: Retrato Intermitente (1978) is a vivid portrait of the life and cultural influence of the q***r activist, painter and performance artist Ocaña – in their own words.
A timeless tale of punks, p**s and chosen families, we will delve into the fluorescent green world of Pedro Almodóvar’s Pepi, Luci, Bom, y otras chicas del monton (1980) - offering a chaotic glimpse into the unique cultural amalgam of the Movida Madrileña.
These films reflect the crucial role of LGBTQ+ communities across Spain in fighting against Francoist oppression, radically changing the cultural landscape to create new spaces for artistic and individual expression.
Alex is a post-graduate researcher at the University of Leeds whose current work focuses on Q***r film and TV from Spain. They are also a DJ, presenter on NARR Radio, and perform in drag under the name Koko Popperz.

🔸 21:00 Tazz

Tazz is sending a signal to you from rural Scotland. A highland hour taking you from imperfect breaks and rolls to a happy trance finale to round things off.

Love and wubs from the acid farm xoxo
