Every dream has a meaning.

But what does it mean to see snakes in a dream? Maybe there would be a Joseph here to interpret this dream I had several years ago.

Many years ago I dreamt of being pursued by snakes in the compound. It was obvious they wanted to bite me and I was running and crying. Immediately, I saw a VERY familiar man who had always been by my side. I knew he could help, so I ran to him. I showed him the snakes and he told me he was the one who asked them to chase me. Na once I wake from the dream.

I wondered. How could this man I thought loved me send snakes to chase me? I never told him about it and was unbothered by the dream when I woke up. I still love the man to this day; he is one of my faithful confidants and I have never doubted his love.

What if I had sought an interpretation of this dream? Trust the "men of God" and other interpreters who would coin a scary interpretation that could make me hate an innocent man. There was even a time I saw one book that explained the meaning of every kind of dream.

Dreams are sometimes scary and the humans in us might want to know more about the dramas played when we are asleep. But the vast majority of the time, they're just natural dreams with no meaning. Dreams are normal for every human. In fact, if you don't dream, there could be something wrong with you. Researchers believe those who think they do not dream are those who forget their dreams.

It is safer not to seek interpretations of dreams because interpreters of dreams are experts in giving meaning to meaningless dreams. There is only one type of dream that gets interpreted immediately. It is called the ''pi***ng dream" You feel warmth when dreaming it and cold after the dream. Then shine your eyes after waking up. I interpret that dream too.

NORTHERN NIGERIA- A HOME OF ILLITERATES?

The Northerners are illiterates. They don't speak English and can't pass simple exams. Like you, I once believed these lies. But after staying in the North for one year, I realized that they are as intelligent as anyone reading this. Let me tell you why.

When I arrived the North for my NYSC, the most common phrase I heard was "ba trenshi" which means no English. It is the Hausas way of saying they don't understand English. Even the SS3 students aren't ashamed to say it. After their exams, you have no choice but to pass all the students because almost all of them failed. If you don't promote them, who will? I mocked them for a while until I knew what the problem was.

Northerners do not see English as their first or second language. It's mostly their third or fourth language as the case may be. For instance, in Taraba, they speak Hausa, Fulfude (Fulani) and their indigenous languages. The Muslims also speak Arabic fluently. English is only spoken and taught in schools. This poses a big challenge to them.

They are taught everything in a language they don't understand or understand minimally. I managed to explain a few things in Hausa during my classes and they understood perfectly despite my struggle with the Language. They failed to understand those same things in my simplest English. Then I wondered; why not teach these people in Hausa so they understand and not bore them with English? Knowing what is being taught is more important than knowing it in English.

For example, erosion is the washing away of the upper soil. It will take you up to 2 hours to explain that definition before everyone in the class will understand it in English. But the same definition in Hausa will be understood by the entire class in less than a minute. Additionally, these students attend an Arabic class before coming to school and they do not fail there. Continuing to teach them in English when they don't understand means we have prioritized a Language over the education of half of the country's population.

THEY CAN EVEN WRITE PERFECTLY
The average Northerner is not an illiterate. They can read and write Hausa and Arabic in most cases. One day, I saw my student's note and he was writing from right to left. I didn't ask any question because he was used to writing Arabic but not English. They often come to class with Hausa books and they read correctly. Lovers in the class can write love notes in Hausa and throw to their crushes. That means, if their exams were in these languages, they would do a great job. But society says no. It is either English or nothing.

WHAT IS MY POINT?
The Nigerian educational system cannot be the same in the entire country. What is wrong with having Universities where students learn purely in Hausa. These people will make good Doctors, Teachers, even scientists if they are taught in a language they understand. Or Does a Doctor need to know a particular language before he treats a patient?

The northerners might be illiterates based on UN standards and the Nigerian educational system. But they are not. They are intellectuals suppressed by their understanding of a language that is not theirs. English is Foreign to them. Teach them in Hausa like English is not our official language and you will see the genius in them.

MOHBAD: SO MUCH LOVE AWAITS US AT DEATH, WHY NOT NOW?

Following Mohbad's death, lyrics from one of his unreleased songs hit the internet. He said when he is no more people will "talk about the things I’ve done, discuss my right and wrongs.“ But just before that line, he said: "When I’m there no more, people will love me more.”

Like every other imperfect human, Mohbad expected people to talk about his errors and shortcomings, and not just his good deeds. But since he died, nobody, not even those believed to be his archenemies have said anything negative about him. It's like a stainless angel just died.

Mohbad was not without mistakes. MAYBE, he doesn't even see himself as a good guy. But death just erased all his errors and everyone is ready to fight for him for one reason. HE IS DEAD. Most of us that haven't even heard of him are busy explaining how gentle he was. 'Because he don die.' We ended up talking about his "rights" and no mention of his "wrongs." I wish he saw that when he was alive.

But who truly loved him when he was alive? We can't know for sure because of the hypocrisy that comes when a person is no more. Many celebrities writing episodes about the boy look like fans after death. For a man to say he would be loved more after death mean there is a great feeling inside him that he's not loved enough. Very few celebrities and fans cared to know what he was going through. I don't know him, so I won't pretend that I cared then. But here we are, declaring love like men and women in love.

Oh, before I forget, I heard Rema just opened his DM. All of us know that if he was still alive Rema will NEVER open that message. Imagine how excited Mohbad would be if that DM was replied to when he was alive. I am not saying Rema did anything wrong by not replying because he is obviously very busy. I'm saying the people get the exact love they desire when they are no more. If Mohbad had a way of reading these tributes, he'll be like; "even you?" Because most people, especially the celebrities, are only doing what they are doing because they don't want people to feel they're on the side of the oppressor.

The streams, the trends, the desire to fight for him are waste of time (my opinion). What is Justice when a person has died? Even if the killer is killed, it is not Justice. Closure doesn't erase the pain and trauma the death caused. won't give a father to his son, a son to his parents and a husband to his wife. Justice is not Justice after all.

Showing respect and love for the living is more important than writing episodes for them when they are no more. Most people are feeling all alone without anyone to run to. They've been abandoned by relatives and friends. Some are suicidal while others are at the peak of depression. When they die, trust us with our hypocritical tributes.

Mohbad WAS NOT LOVED when he was alive. Only a few cared. The rest are pretending like they cared or maybe feeling guilty they didn't do enough when he was alive. "All is fake" in Wike's voice.
Should we pretend to die so that we can get loved too. Anyways, we'll wait patiently to stop breathing so the world will sing our praises and show us the love we were never shown.
