We are thrilled to announce the successful culmination of the WATDEV Farmers' Field Day and Innovation Roadshow, held on March 26, 2025, at the Hola Irrigation Farmersโ Cooperative Society Ground. The event was part of the project WATDEV, funded by the Programme, and organized by the Tana River County Government in collaboration with KALRO , ASARECA, CIHEAMBari, National Irrigation Authority, and other key partners, brought together more than 700 farmers, innovators, and stakeholders to promote sustainable agriculture under the theme: โSoil, , and for Improved Farm Productivity.โ
Highlights of the Event
๐น ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ ๐๐ฑ๐ก๐ข๐๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ: Farmers explored cutting-edge technologies, agricultural equipment, and inputs from exhibitors, including seed producers, fertilizer companies, and water irrigation operators.
๐น ๐๐ฑ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ญ ๐๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐ฌ: Hon. Mwanajuma Mabuke, CECM for Agriculture, urged farmers to adopt modern techniques and join cooperatives for better access to resources.
๐น ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐๐จ๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ฌ: Dr. Gaetano Ladisa (CIHEAM BARI) and Dr. Alice Murage (KALRO) emphasized the importance of partnerships to tackle climate challenges and strengthen water usersโ association.

๐น๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ ๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ: Dr. Blaise Amony (ASARECA) put in evidence the need of a call to action for youth to embrace agriculture and digital platforms for food security.
The event ideally concludes the day of training, learning, and networking on BMPs ( and ) held on 25 March at Zuri Hotel. This event saw wide participation from farmers in the Tana River irrigation scheme, united in their commitment to a resilient agricultural future.
