By September 1, 2025, China will require students to begin learning about artificial intelligence (AI) starting in primary school, with children as young as six taking part. The initiative calls for at least eight hours of AI instruction per school year.

The lessons can be taught as a standalone course or integrated into subjects like science and information technology. The program is structured to grow with students starting with basic concepts in elementary school, moving to practical applications in middle school, and focusing on innovation and real world use in high school.
