Yes, it is fall here and - this fall - there is rain almost every day -
with just an hour or two when the sun manages to peek through -
And in this fleeting light the world once again feels right.

Evening Atmosphere

This is, for the time being, my last picture on this channel – a tribute to William Turner. I love these light moods and the way he brought them onto the canvas. I try to do the same with the camera – feel free to judge for yourself whether it succeeded.

I would like to sincerely thank Kaisa and Morag for allowing me to showcase a few of my pictures on the Instagram channel of the ICM Photo Academy. I will continue to engage intensively with this style of photography, as it offers so much room for creativity.

If anyone is interested, you are welcome to follow me at or occasionally visit my homepage (www.rolf-ebert.de).

Dreamteam bird

A good example of how, with the help of a moving camera, a rather inconspicuous subject (hint: it's not a bird!) can be transformed into something fascinatingly new.

Doublebass

Music is movement. To reinforce this impression, I often combine several ICM shots into one image. This increases the degree of abstraction,
but also the dynamism in the image.

Firebird

It's autumn here, and the leaves are changing color and falling from the trees. Yesterday, I found a beautiful leaf from our cherry tree that had turned orange-red.

I photographed it in my little “photo studio” with a moving camera and got some pictures that I think are beautiful.

This one reminds me very much of the firebird phoenix.

Creatures
The same subject, photographed with three different camera movements. I always find the results astonishing. Little unique  creatures, that you can create only once - and never again...

Hello,

My name is Rolf Ebert and I live in Germany. My professional life was dominated by rules and regulations and offered little scope for creative activity. ICM photography has opened up a whole new world for me. It's more about intuition, creativity, and aesthetics. And now I have the opportunity to get a little closer to my secret love, painting. Unfortunately, I'm not very good with brushes and paint, but the camera allows me to paint with light—and I think that's great!

I am honored to be able to share some of my “light paintings” on this Instagram channel over the next seven days. Thank you to Kaisa and Morag for their trust.

I would like to start with a photo inspired by the work of David D. Day. I find these kind of photos exciting when completely unspectacular everyday objects are transformed by the movement of the camera into figures that have a completely different aesthetic and stimulate the viewer's imagination.

The Turning Time 🍂
As October tips into November, the air shifts — softer, thinner, a little more alive. Across the world, people mark this threshold in their own ways.

In the old Celtic lands, it’s Samhain — the fire festival that ends the harvest and begins the dark half of the year. A time to honour ancestors, listen to the quiet, and remember that endings are beginnings in disguise.

Elsewhere, candles glow for Día de los Mu***os, All Hallows’ Eve, and All Saints’ Day — celebrations of memory, love, and light that bridge worlds seen and unseen.

For us, as image-makers, it’s a beautiful time to explore the in-between — to blur edges, play with motion, and let the spirit of the season move through the lens.

Here’s to the hush, the firelight, and the beauty of what’s fading and becoming.
