Taiwan Diary: The Grassland
They call this place the “New Zealand” of Taiwan. In photos, it looks like a warm, sunny dream, but the reality was so freaking cold. It was nice to experience once, but if I’m being honest, I don’t think I’d do it again. Even Edge wasn’t really wowed.
Between the two-hour wait for the bus and the two-hour ride up, it’s a long journey for a view that felt... familiar. Growing up in the countryside, this kind of scenery has been the backdrop of my life, so it didn’t hit me with that “wow” factor I was looking for.
A little note for anyone planning to go: try to be at the very front of the line. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a seat, but if you’re even a minute late, you’re standing for the entire ride lol.
Honestly? The highlight for me wasn’t even the destination. I loved the scenery on the way there—the local houses tucked away and the sakuras in bloom were so beautiful. Taiwan has so many gems, but for the effort this one takes, I think there are better spots to spend your time.
