A Final Adieu: Graduates.

As we watch you walk away with your diplomas, we're left with a mix of emotions, admiration, gratitude, and a tinge of sadness. We've had the privilege of witnessing your journey, and we're forever changed by the experience.

Your dedication, perseverance, and passion have been a constant source of inspiration to us. We've seen you pour your hearts and souls into every project, every assignment, and every challenge that came your way. Your tireless efforts to excel, to innovate, and to push boundaries have been a testament to your unwavering commitment to your dreams.

As underclassmen, we've had the privilege of learning from you, being mentored by you, and being motivated by your examples. Your presence in our department has enriched our experiences, and your legacy will continue to inspire us long after you're gone.

We've seen the late nights, the early mornings, and the countless cups of coffee that fueled your journey. We've witnessed your struggles, your setbacks, and your triumphs. And through it all, we've been in awe of your resilience, your determination, and your unwavering optimism.

As you move on to the next chapter of your lives, we want you to know that your impact on us will be felt for years to come. You've shown us what it means to chase your dreams with purpose, to stand up for what you believe in, and to never give up on your passions.

We'll carry the memories of your time here with us, and we'll strive to emulate the qualities that have made you role models for us. Your legacy will live on through us, and we'll continue to draw inspiration from the examples you've set.

Thank you for being beacons of hope, for being sources of motivation, and for being role models. We'll miss you, but we're excited to see the incredible things you'll achieve in the years to come. Congratulations, graduates!

"𝐈𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞..."

There’s a kind of pain only architecture students understand—the weight of an unfinished plate staring back at you at 3 AM, the pressure of a deadline creeping closer with every passing second, and the quiet fear that maybe, just maybe, you won’t finish in time.

It starts with an idea, full of excitement and ambition. You sit down, pencil in hand, ready to turn that idea into something real. But as the hours stretch into days, the excitement fades, replaced by frustration. Lines don’t meet the way they should. Concepts that seemed perfect in your head suddenly don’t make sense on paper. You erase. Redo. Try again. And again. And again.

The hardest part isn’t just the technical work—it’s the mental battle. The doubt. The moments when you look at your classmates and wonder how they make it look so easy while you’re stuck, drowning in drafts and mistakes. But then, someone cracks a joke, shares their own struggles, and you realize: You’re not alone.

There’s comfort in shared suffering. The quiet solidarity of classmates pulling all-nighters together, swapping snacks, offering advice, or just sitting in silence, knowing everyone’s fighting their own battle. Those small moments of connection become lifelines, reminders that the struggle isn’t yours alone to bear.

And then, the deadline comes. Hands shaking, heart racing, you finally submit the plate you poured your soul into. You expect joy—but what hits first is relief. Every hour of lost sleep, every moment of self-doubt, every failure that almost made you quit—it all led to this.

The best feeling after passing plates isn’t just happiness. It’s pride—real pride. The kind that comes from knowing you didn’t give up when it got hard. It’s looking at your classmates, seeing the same exhaustion in their eyes, and realizing you made it through together.

In the end, architecture isn’t just about structures or design. It’s about resilience. It’s about friendship. And most importantly, it’s about proving to yourself that no matter how tough the process gets, you’re tougher.

"I choose ARCHITECTURE...."

It started the way most things in my life did—without a plan. I remember sitting in front of that college application form, staring at all the options like they were written in a language I didn’t speak. Everyone else seemed to have it figured out: engineering, medicine, business—big, solid choices that made sense. And me? I had nothing. No dream I’d carried since I was a kid, no burning passion to chase.

I scrolled through the list, numb and tired, until my eyes landed on one word: Architecture. I didn’t know what it meant beyond the obvious—buildings, I guess? It wasn’t some childhood fascination with LEGO or a deep love for drawing. It was just… there. A choice that didn’t scare me, but didn’t excite me either. Maybe that’s why I clicked it. No expectations, no pressure. Just a direction for my feet to follow.

Fast forward, and I entered first year, deep into a world I didn’t even understand when I started.

The first months were brutal. Lines had to be perfect. Concepts had to be brilliant. Sleep became a distant memory, replaced by nights spent hunched over models and screens, questioning if I had made the biggest mistake of my life. I watched classmates thrive with ideas I couldn’t even imagine, while I struggled just to keep up.

But somewhere between the frustration and the exhaustion, small things began to shift.

The scratch of a pencil across paper started to feel… familiar. I learned to appreciate the beauty in precision, the calm that came from getting a line just right. There were moments fleeting, but real when a design worked, and for a second, everything else fell away.

And that’s when I realized, "maybe I didn’t need a reason to start". Maybe I just needed to keep going.

Now, two years later, I still don’t have all the answers. I don’t know if this was destiny or just a lucky guess. But every late night spent revising plans, every failed critique, every small victory has built something in me—something real.

I may have entered architecture clueless and lost, but every day I stay, it feels a little more like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐀-𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐀: Day 2 – A Celebration of Art, Community, and Achievement

The vibrant energy of 𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐀-𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐀 continued into its second day, celebrating National Arts Month 2025 and PAF-NAM '24 at CityMall Kalibo. Aspiring artists honed their skills in charcoal rendering and acrylic painting, showcasing creative storytelling.

The key highlight was the awarding ceremony for participants in "Handum: An ALE Support Program," a fundraising initiative supporting architecture graduates preparing for the ALE. 𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐀-𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐀: Art for Creativity, Community, and a Cause

In celebration of the National Arts Month 2025 and Philippine Architecture Festival-National Architecture Month 2024 (PAF-NAM '24), the United Architects of the Philippines Graduates Auxiliary (UAPGA) together with the Aklan Arts & Crafts Society (AACS) proudly presents HUNA-HUNA: An Art Workshop for creative thinking, held on February 15, 2025 at CityMall Kalibo.

The event aimed to nurture the artistic skills of aspiring artists and to explore their artistic expressions in creative storytelling through engaging sessions on charcoal rendering and acrylic painting. Beyond inspiring through art, it also provided direct support for the Handum: An ALE Support Program, a fundraising activity to assist architecture graduates for the Architecture Licensure Examination (ALE).

More than honing creative skills, Huna-huna has also empowered the next generation of architects, proving that art can inspire, uplift, and create lasting impact.
