Happy Sunday. I really do miss Sunday dinners after church, not sure if this was Easter, Sunday dinner after church or a family/ Friends fellowship. In the back row are several of my Grandmother Sisters (Josephine Jonhson-Clark). The young fella in the middle is my Uncle Joe/Sherman Johnson. If anyone can identify any of the people in the front, please let me know? The picture was taken in NYC while many of them were visiting from Clinton, Sc.

My Great Grandmother Sallie Preston-Burke(w/My Grandfather Walter Burke. I never meet you and to be honest I still do not know much about your life other than you worked hard and loved hard but, I plan to uncover your legacy BECAUSE YOUR PART OF HISTORY DESERVES TO BE HEARD! I’ve had the privilege of knowing 1of 8 of my great grandparents but that does not mean we cannot honor you also.

When Sallie Preston was born in March 1883 in Charleston, South Carolina, her father, Joseph, was 24, and her mother, Charlotte, was 24. She had four sons and three daughters with THOMAS Burke between 1907 and 1923. She died on February 17, 1949, in her hometown at the age of 65.

Today In Black History we honer and remember the great legacy of Helen(Vinson) and Richard E. Scott (my Wife’s Grandparents). One of the very FIRST Black families to settle in Walnut Creek, CA in 1954! Helen attended Wilberforce College where she pledged AKA Sorority and Married Richard E. Scott who attended Kansas State where he pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and shortly after was drafted into the WWll. Helen and Richard Scott continued legacy is still alive today having 2 children (Dr Diane Scott-Summers and Rick Scott), grandchildren and great grands. We salute you for paving the way! ❤️👏🏽
