PDMA Issues Rain, Flood Alert for Upper Punjab from Oct 5–7
The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Wednesday issued a weather alert, warning of heavy rains and thunderstorms in upper Punjab, particularly Rawalpindi, Gujranwala Division, and adjoining districts, from October 5 to 7.
According to a PDMA spokesperson, intense downpours in river catchments may cause a dangerous rise in water levels, while flash flooding in streams and Rawalpindi’s Nullah Lai cannot be ruled out.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia directed commissioners and deputy commissioners to remain on ground and ensure timely response to any emergency. He said district administrations had been ordered, under the chief minister’s directives, to finalize advance arrangements and mobilize all available resources to protect citizens.
The DG cautioned that water levels in rivers and seasonal nullahs were expected to swell, prompting relevant departments—including Health, Irrigation, C&W, Local Government, and Livestock—to be placed on alert.
Kathia also urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel, seek shelter during storms, and stay indoors during lightning. PDMA rescue teams, he added, were on standby, while citizens could report emergencies through the helpline 1129. 6 buildings, marquee, sealed on Expressway over dengue SOP violations

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has sealed six buildings, including a marquee, along the Expressway after dengue larvae were found on the premises.
The action was taken by Assistant Commissioner Nilore during an inspection drive to check compliance with dengue prevention guidelines, said the spokesman of ICT administration here.
According to officials, the sealed sites were identified as major contributors to the spread of dengue due to stagnant water and non-compliance with safety protocols.
The inspection revealed that the management of these buildings failed to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the health and district administration to curb mosquito breeding.
The Assistant Commissioner said the crackdown was part of ongoing preventive efforts across the capital to control the seasonal spread of dengue.
He added that negligence in maintaining hygienic conditions in commercial and residential structures posed a direct threat to public health, making strict action unavoidable.
The inspection team emphasized that dengue control requires coordinated efforts from both authorities and the public. Property owners have been directed to ensure that rooftops, basements, lawns, and under-construction areas are regularly cleaned and free from stagnant water.
Warning notices were also issued to several nearby properties found partially violating SOPs, while repeat offenders were cautioned about facing heavy fines and further sealing in case of non-compliance.
Meanwhile, dengue prevention teams have been carrying out daily inspections across high-risk zones in Islamabad, including residential colonies, markets, under-construction sites, and public event venues.
Officials said that buildings found responsible for breeding larvae will not only be sealed but their owners will also be prosecuted under public health laws.
The district administration has also urged citizens to take precautionary steps by covering water tanks, disposing of waste properly, and avoiding water accumulation in open containers.
Public awareness campaigns are being carried out through mosques, schools, and community centers to highlight the importance of individual responsibility in controlling dengue spread.
Health officials confirmed that Islamabad has been witnessing a rise in dengue cases during the current season. Surveillance teams are intensifying monitoring operations in areas reporting higher incidence of cases.
The sealing of six buildings on the Expressway marks one of the strictest enforcement actions in recent weeks to ensure strict compliance with health regulations.

F-9 Park parking firing: two accused held, weapon recovered

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police arrested two suspects after an exchange of fire outside McDonald’s at F-9 Park during the early hours of Tuesday.
According to an ICT Police official, at around 2:35 a.m., the accused — identified as Umar Farooq, a resident of E-11/3, and Hassan Shah, a resident of G-11 — opened aerial fire from car No. AGB-783 in the restaurant’s parking area, causing panic among citizens present there.
Upon receiving the information, a police team from Margalla Police Station immediately reached the spot. The suspects also fired at the police party; however, the police managed to overpower them using tactical expertise.
During the scuffle, a constable’s uniform was torn while apprehending the accused. Police recovered a pistol and two magazines from their possession and shifted them to Margalla Police Station.
The suspects were booked under FIR No. 603/25 with sections 324 (attempt to murder), 153 (provoking riot), and 186 (obstructing a public servant in discharge of duty).
A police spokesman said further investigation was underway to trace possible facilitators of the accused. Islamabadians Islamabad Police The PenPk

Gawdar: When the COVID-19 pandemic swept across the world, classrooms fell silent. Schools were shut, online learning became the new normal, and children everywhere were forced to adapt.

But in a small village in Gawadar, Balochistan, there was no internet, no coaching centers, and no private schools to keep learning alive.

Faced with this silence, a young man, Ismail Yaqoob, decided to take education into his own hands—quite literally—by launching the Camel Library, a mobile library that carried books on camelback to children in remote villages.“We rented a camel and began our campaign in six villages of Union Council Paleri,” Yaqoob recalls. “People welcomed the idea warmly, and both children and adults took part.

The Lahore-based “Alif Laila ” organization provided us with books, which we loaded on the camel and delivered to village children. We also reached out to women who had never been to school. Today, many of them are able to read and write.”

What began as an emergency response to the pandemic soon grew bigger. After one year, the Camel Library expanded to six more villages in Pishkan, continuing its work entirely on a voluntary basis.

But running a library on nothing more than goodwill had its limits. “Since we had no financial support and relied solely on voluntary work, after four years our resources were exhausted,” Yaqoob said with a hint of disappointment. “Now we have formed a Camel Library Committee and are providing books through local schools. Our mission remains the same: to educate our children and keep them away from social ills.”

So far, more than six hundred children have benefited from the Camel Library, with girls showing a particularly strong interest. Even after schools reopened post-COVID, the initiative continued through schools rather than being abandoned.

3.2 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Karachi, No Damage
A light earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale was recorded in Karachi on Wednesday morning, sparking mild tremors across parts of the city.
According to the National Seismological Centre, the quake struck at 9:34 am with its epicentre located 7 kilometres northwest of Malir. It was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometres, classifying it as a shallow earthquake—often felt more strongly on the surface despite lower magnitude.
Residents in several areas, particularly around Malir, reported feeling light vibrations. However, the mild intensity meant the tremors were short-lived and caused no panic or damage.
Authorities confirmed that normal life in the city remained unaffected.

27/09/2025

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif delivered a wide-ranging speech at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session on Friday, outlining Pakistan’s stance on regional peace, counter-terrorism, climate change, and global justice.

In a forceful address, PM Shehbaz urged peace with India, called for urgent climate action, reaffirmed support for Palestine and Kashmir, and highlighted Pakistan’s sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism.

Peace with India, but firm stance on water rights

The prime minister stressed Pakistan’s desire to turn the page after years of hostility. “We have won the war, and now we seek to win peace in our part of the world,” he told the Assembly, offering comprehensive dialogue with India on all outstanding disputes.

He also warned against violations of the Indus Waters Treaty, vowing to defend Pakistan’s rights over the shared rivers that sustain 240 million people.

Unwavering support for Kashmiris

Reaffirming Pakistan’s position on Kashmir, Shehbaz assured Kashmiris of Islamabad’s solidarity. “One day soon, India’s tyranny in Kashmir will come to a grinding halt, and Kashmir will gain its fundamental right to self-determination through a UN-sponsored plebiscite,” he declared.

Trump’s mediation

Sharif credited former US President Donald Trump with helping avert escalation in South Asia, calling his intervention “timely and decisive.” He revealed that Pakistan had nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his efforts.

Palestine and Gaza crisis

Turning to the Middle East, the prime minister condemned Israeli actions in Gaza, describing them as “unspeakable terror” against Palestinians. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Sharif as its capital.

Counter-terrorism sacrifices

Sharif reminded the Assembly that Pakistan had been “on the front line” of global counter-terrorism for over two decades, condemning extremism in all its forms and manifestations.
