INFP FICTIONAL CHARACTERS

During this pandemic, I’ve been binging on many new and older TV Shows and movies. As an avid Disney fan, I’ve recently re-watched one of my favourite childhood movies ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and I’m proud to say that Belle is an IFNP. Belle is my favourite Disney princess due to her kind demeanour and her immense interest in literature. When typing either a fictional character or a real-life person, you must apply their actions to the strengths and weaknesses of any personality type. With Belle, she does not feel like she belongs in her ‘provincial’ town and yearns for more than her current life. Though Belle embodies most of the INFP strengths, her dream can be seen as unrealistic, and this can be seen as her being unfocused.

» WEAKNESSES

● Unrealistic
Mediators can set themselves up for disappointment when reality does not measure up to their dreams. As a result, they tend to be hopeless romantics.

● Self-Isolating
People with this type are likely to feel lonely or isolated as they are reluctant to put themselves out there and form new connections with people.

● Unfocused
Mediators tend to become so caught up in different ideas and ideals that they fail to commit to a course of action.

● Emotionally Vulnerable
Though this personality type's attunement is viewed as a strength , if boundaries are not administered, they can absorb the negative moods or attitudes of others.

● Desperate to Please
Mediators yearn for harmony and acceptance hence conflict tends to be stressful for them. Unfortunately, their desire to please others can drain their own energy and their awareness of their own needs.

● Self-critical
When INFPs fail to live up to the unrealistic expectations of themselves, they can feel discouraged can can give up on their dreams.

Each personality type has Strengths and Weaknesses and I will explore those of INFPs also known as Mediators.

» STRENGTHS

● Empathetic
INFPs can feel the emotions of others due to their immense sensitivity. They are usually thoughtful and kind-hearted.

● Generous
They feel called to share the good things in their lives and uplift others.

● Open-minded
Tolerant and accepting, this type tends not to judge anyone else's beliefs, lifestyles or decisions. Due to their accepting nature, mediators typically become confidants to their friends, loved ones and even strangers.

● Creative
They are often drawn to creative pursuits, hence why many people of this type are writers, musicians, artists, etc.

● Passionate
Mediators give their whole heart to an idea or project that captivates them.

● Idealistic
They strive to follow their conscience, whether if it conforms to the norms of society or not.
