Check out our new with Will Rad 👇
1. How did this collab start? You are literally on the other side of the world!
I have been a long-time fan of Nelly’s vocals and always look forward to hearing a new release from her, so it was natural to work with someone you really enjoy listening to. The internet and technology really makes the world a lot smaller these days. Due to that it was easy to connect with her and for us to share ideas back and forth even with the very large distance between us and the time differences 😀
2. How many hours do you spend on music during the week?
I would say around 2 to 4 hours a week, depending on how the week is going. I am usually trying to chip away at projects late in the evenings or weekends. I would like to spend a lot more time on it as this is a huge passion project for me, but I need to balance this with family life, work, and social life.
3. If you do a collab, do you start with the music first or with a capella and build the music around?
I have been building the music first and then approaching the vocalist to work around the production. I believe the melodies and atmospheres really set the mood of the track for me and provide some inspiration to the vocalist. I’m definitely open to building the music around the vocal in the future, and will do so, as the vocal can provide inspiration and set the mood as well.
4. Any pets? And what are the names?
I have a four-year-old labrador retriever named Molly who is almost always by my side in the studio... mostly looking for treats or to go for a walk though 😆 … and her foe Mango, a Syrian hamster.
5. Tell us what we should see if we are in Canada?
If you are heading to Canada, and a nature lover like me, you have to visit Banff National Park, which is part of the Rocky Mountains. It has some of the most breathtaking mountain views, unreal crystal-clear lakes and many great hiking trails. The must see there would definitely be Moraine Lake or Lake Louise.
