UPDATE | EXPLOSIVE DEVICES

📍Rome, Georgia

Police confirm they worked TWO seperate explosive devices cases this week.

While I was told Thursday night they were connected, a short time ago police clarified the two cases are completely separate.

Last night, Floyd County and Rome police executed a search warrant on Maycroft Court NE (across from the jail) where we saw three people detained.

Today, we confirmed, William Craig Crabtree was one of those suspects.

He’s facing several charges, including possession and transporting explosives with the intent to kill, injure or intimidate.

In his arrest warrant, it alleges he showed up to 1501 Turner McCall Boulevard in Rome on July 15, which is Loyd’s Wrecker Service, and detonated an explosive device on the property. It states he took after the device was detonated.

His warrant also alleges he’s a former employee. It states he was fired and was disgruntled over his termination.

Again, this is separate from the case involving the explosives found on Hull Avenue and Turkey Mountain Road.

They finally got this POS!! It’s crazy that they didn’t mention any other arrests because whoever he was staying with had to know he was wanted! They should have arrested every adult in the residence where he was staying!

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested 16-year-old Jayden Daniel on the morning of July 17 in DeKalb County. He was wanted in connection with the May 13 murder of his stepfather, David Gay.

Deputies responded around 6:15 p.m. May 13 to a report of a person shot in the area of Avery Drive in Covington. Upon arrival, they found Gay, 41, of Covington, dead inside his home. A preliminary investigation indicated Gay was fatally shot by Daniel.

Daniel faces multiple charges, including murder, aggravated assault, theft by taking, possession of a handgun by a person under 18 and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime. He was taken to the Newton County Detention Center.

Sheriff Ezell Brown extends his gratitude to the U.S. Marshals Service, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and other divisions within the Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in Daniel’s arrest.
