Confidential Conversations: Consensual Non-monogamy. Part 1
The chatosphere™ has become saturated with self-proclaimed experts on a variety of topics that pertain to the relationship dynamic between couples. One of the topics frequently bandied about in these spaces is polyamory. Sadly, many of these conversations present mostly one-sided perspectives that leans heavily in favor of male opinions on the matter.
Here on eAfterDark™, we are exploring the topic in a series of conversations with folks who are about that Poly life, but go about it in an ethical, consensual way. Our goal is to present the topic from a variety of perspectives, which is inclusive of more than one gender identity.
In part one of this series, we discuss polyamory, relationship anarchy, and other aspects of this lifestyle with our guests, Kato and Bambie. They share their experiences both together, in their polyamorous relationship, and separately with other partners.
Polyamory in the Black community is by no means a new concept. Perhaps it is being discussed more openly today, and maybe more every day folks are trying out the concept to see if it works for them. However, many famous Black couples today, and some in the past, have been honest about their relationships being open. One famous pair that spoke on their relationship dynamic being unique are the late Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. In their joint autobiography, they share that the decision to have an open marriage helped strengthen their relationship.
