One year ago, I rolled away from everything I thought I had to be. One shuttle bus. One little dog. No map for what came next. This is what a year of trusting the unknown looks like.

What’s something brave you did this past year?

Would you use ChatGPT as a therapist?
(Or have you already… just a little?)

These are real prompts I’ve asked when I was grieving, overwhelmed, or just needed to get my thoughts out at 2am.

I didn’t expect a chatbot to help me start healing.
But sometimes, a quiet question is all it takes.

Try one.
See what comes up.

I didn’t plan on living in a shuttle bus with a dog and a laptop. I just knew the life I was living wasn’t working anymore. Somewhere between grief and burnout, I started asking better questions. What would life feel like if I stopped trying to hold it all together? What if I let go instead?

Before I bought my bus, I made this.
A tiny model built from things that had meaning. Santa Cruz redwood and driftwood, salvaged from a place I used to call home. Miniature trees, a van, and little figurines pulled from my parents’ attic after they passed. Pieces of our old family train set—something we all used to build together.

I’d forgotten how much I loved that world. The scale of it. The quiet magic of imagining a whole life in a tiny scene.
I set it near my desk to help manifest a new life. Before I knew what I was doing. Before I found the bus. Before the road, the stories, or the book.

And somehow… this little diorama became a spell. A manifestation.
A reminder that even in grief and chaos, we can still build something beautiful.

That overflowing drawer? The cluttered corner? The room you avoid because it’s just too much? It’s time to let it go.

Start small—empty one drawer, clear one surface, let go of one thing you don’t need. Feel the weight lift. Feel the space open up. Because when you clear out the excess, you’re not just making room in your home—you’re making room in your life.

From Overwhelmed at Xannadu Farm to On the Road

When I met Anna at her lavender farm in Eugene, OR, she had dreams of adventure—but also a lot of stuff holding her back. Her storage was packed, her home was full, and the idea of downsizing felt overwhelming.

Together, we sorted, sold, and simplified. We tackled storage, cleared out what she no longer needed, and even hosted a yard sale to send her off lighter. And now? She’s free. Anna packed up her 4Runner and hit the road to live life as an adventure guide.

This is what Mobile Minimalist is all about—helping people let go so they can move forward. If you’re drowning in stuff and craving more freedom, let’s make space for the life you really want.

Where do you dream of going? What’s holding you back? Let’s clear the clutter and find your freedom. 🚐✨

Finding Connection in Unexpected Places

I never know exactly where the road will take me, but I do know this—wherever I go, I find people, stories, and moments that remind me why I live this way.

I stopped at a vineyard in Yakima, looking for shade on a hot day. There, under a canopy of vines, I met Sarai—16 years old, wise beyond her years, sitting in a pile of baby shower decorations, waiting for backup. She told me about her siblings, her dreams of traveling to Spain, the pride she felt when someone recognized her heritage. We talked about paths—the ones we choose, the ones we leave behind.

Before I knew it, I was no longer just a traveler passing through. I was a guest at a baby shower, surrounded by women who welcomed me without hesitation. We laughed, played games, shared food and wine, and in that moment, I was part of something bigger than myself.

This is what Mobile Minimalist is really about. Not just decluttering spaces, but making space for connection. For saying yes to unexpected moments. For sitting down with strangers and leaving as something more.

Because when you let go of what weighs you down, you make room for the things that truly matter. ✨

The first official night on the road was everything I dreamed of—and nothing I expected. The drive was beautiful at first, the kind of open-road moment that makes you feel like you’re exactly where you’re meant to be. But in the fourth hour, the sky turned dark and wild.

A tornado warning. Lightning splitting the sky for hours. The bus rocking back and forth in the wind. It wasn’t the peaceful first night I imagined, but it was real. And I made it through.

That’s the thing about choosing a life with less—it’s unpredictable. It challenges you. It reminds you that you don’t need certainty, or excess, or a perfectly planned path. You just need to keep moving forward.

And that’s exactly what Watson and I did. Onward. 🚐💨
