Brush Fire this afternoon.

A vehicle fire occurred on North Bound 73, spreading to nearby brush. Units on scene have the situation under control and all fixed-wing aircraft have been cancelled. The vehicle fire has been extinguished, with crews working to address remaining hot spots in the brush. Orange County Fire Authority has experienced a busy day. OCSD - Mission Viejo Police Services is currently attempting to apprehend a person of interest at a residence due to an outstanding warrant in the Pacific Hills Neighborhood.
Authorities are utilizing loudspeakers to instruct the individual to exit the premises with hands raised and empty. OCSD has deployed a SWAT team and drones. The warrant's specifics are unknown. Neighbors are advised to remain indoors until the situation is resolved.

Complete closure of both North and South bound 5 freeway through Camp Pendleton. Traffic starting to build up in San Clemente. South bound closure at Christianitos rd. All cars have to exit and turned around. Oceanside is experiencing the same issue with North bound closure.

Freeway Closure Update:

All southbound lanes of the 5 freeway are being diverted at Christianitos. CalTrans Cameras are already showing a backup through San Clemente. Oceanside is experiencing similar issues with northbound freeway closures.

Due to an event at Camp Pendleton today, October 18th, Interstate 5 will be closed by the CHP from Harbor Drive to Basilone Road between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. Drivers should expect delays on Interstate 5 and other state routes throughout Southern California before, during, and after the event.
