My new room is already running and working smooth.

Today I would like to talk about the importance of converters to get the most accurate conversion from analog to digital (A/D) and from digital to analog (D/A).

Digital audio requires a device to encode the analog signal into digital stream of 1s and 0s, and then after into digital audio has been recorded and processed, to turn the 1s and 0s back into analog signal we can listen to.

We have in our studio 3 converters in our set up for the task, being the Crane Song Interstellar the most crucial and superior quality of the 3 because it’s the one we use to capture the final print back to the DAW (A/D), in case of mastering would be from our analog chain and in mixing would be after the analog summing and bus mix processing. The level of details on the transient elements, width and depth is astounding on this device. 💣💣🔥🔥

The set up I choose between the 3 is the one called star configuration and goes as follow;
The Interstellar due it’s precise clock is the master, sending clock to the Orion and Alpha Link via 70 ohm BNC cable for a steady and free variation ( Jitter ) sync. The Alpha is connected via MADI and the Interstellar via S/PDIF to the Orion that is the one who send the signals back to the computer via Thunderbolt.

A new member joins the family fellas, after fall in love with the plugin for which it’s very good as well, we decided to pull the trigger and man couldn’t be happier with our decision 🔥🔥💣💣The Black Box Analog Design is a tube saturation box with input and output transformer. It adds saturation, harmonics, natural compression and also increased RMS. It’s a magic box that give you the possibility to get a wide variety of tones 🎨

This is the rack where we have vintage digital effects devices; , , , , and .
As you can see, we love this rack-mounted effects for mixing and producing our music. This doesn’t mean we avoid software fxs, we use it alongside with our hardware boxes. Everything has its place here. We also have pedals fxs to add to our palette 🎨.
In our experience this add something unique to the sound. The processing is based on algorithms that occurs in the digital domain but what give the distinctive sound of this units is the analog stages that contribute to shape the timbre of this effects.

Finally the Lang PEQ 2 from are here! We have not listen the vintage one but we are excited to try it in the studio during this week 💣💣😁😁🤙🏼🤙🏼

Hi People,

After all the time we spent on acoustic traps, monitor placement and all the gear we have, our studio room still had some phase and amplitude problem, especially in the Low end, so we decided to sell some of our equipment to invest in a room correction box and after some deep research we got the Trinnov ST2 Pro system.

We did the installation yesterday and after some tests and A/B listening our jaw drop to the floor instantaneously 😀. It’s a huge difference and now we have full picture of what we hear from our speakers, frequency response, stereo width, transient detail and have the trust to get the sound we want that translate perfectly in all media. It improves the phase correlation between the two speakers, amplitude and delay alignment.
It’s the best investment we have made for our studio.

Finally we have updated our computer system, we were running since 2009 with our Mac tower, It has done pretty much the job for more than 14 years and it deserves a good retirement 😂. Now we have a new Mac Studio M1 Max 🚀.

We have improvement in CPU power, lower latency and hunderbolt connection among others; our workflow feels more streamlined now.

I have been using the Fatso Jr UAD software emulation (which it’s really good) for years. I felt in love with It since the very first moment.
Now the time has come, and we have the real thing as a new addition to our palette of colour. I love the plugin as I said before but the hardware is in another level. This thing excels almost on anything, snare, room mics, parallel processing, for warming up synths..
For now it will stay there coz our rack it’s full, but we’ll find a nice place in a new rack in the future.
PD: I have already used in a mix 🤟🏽🔥
