“What do you chase?
And why is it always the… ‘thing’?
It isn’t usually until you’ve summited the mountain that you can see the entire
path trodden to reach it.
Re-live the hard moments, and the exciting memories at a pinpoint with feelings of pride, camaraderie and a new (literally higher)
perspective.
We went to Kyrgyzstan chasing snowy mountain peaks, nomadic camps of horse-riding eagle hunters and maybe a night or two in a tent. Instead we found ourselves in scenarios, towns and predicaments even more bizarre than we could’ve expected.
From half-Turkish, half-Russian conversations with a crew of donkey-mounted young girls collecting firewood for their yurt to hitchhiking for ten hours across the country with two young boys and who we thought was their father, but was just a local taxi driver from their village, who didn’t want a cent.
Let the thing guide your planning, but every once in a while, see what happens when you just say yes to something a little different and see where the world takes you, instead of the other way around.
All that just to spell out the old cliche, enjoy the journey, not just the destination”

“This video is the most personal piece I’ve ever created.
It’s not just about travel, its about healing, growth.
For the past 3 years, I’ve used the lens to escape, to tell stories, and to connect with something deeper.
But this one was different. It’s not just visuals, it’s part of me.
A reminder of where I’ve been, what I’ve overcome.
I’m not expecting anything.
Just creating this video is a win in itself.
It’s a chapter of my story I needed to write, whether it gets picked or not.

This is the carousel companion to last week’s film, the in-between moments. Morning tea on a Baghdad street. A radio nobody was supposed to film. The traffic cop who couldn’t stop laughing. The cow that wandered into frame and stayed.
