Greece part 2 - All photos from the UNESCO site Meteora.

Some places impress more with its beauty - Meteora that kind of place 🥰

From the beginning (mostly 14th century) there were 24 monasteries established atop the giant natural rock pillars and rounded boulders (mix of Sandstone and Conglomerate). Six of these monasteries are still active with nuns and monks living there. The monasteries are also open to visitors.

Meteora is located in between the town of Kalabaka and the village of Kastraki and was added to the UNESCOWorld Heritage List in 1988 because of its outstanding architecture and beauty, combined with religious and cultural significance.

Greece part 2 - Meteora.

Some places impress more than others, Meteora with its natural beauty and Eastern Orthodox monasteries is one of them!

From the beginning (mainly the 14th century) there were twenty-four monasteries established atop the giant natural rock pillars (mixture of sandstone and conglomerate) Six of these are still active and open to visitors. At the moment there shall be approximately 50 nuns and 17 monks living in these monasteries.

Meteora was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988 because of its outstanding architecture and beauty, combined with religious and cultural significance.
