A few years ago I was living in a 400 square foot apartment, completely dependent on foodstamps, public assistance and drugs. Every single day I woke up with the same thoughts, the same restricted, bleak future and a very hopeless, heavy heart.

I thought I was destined for failure and death. I had no dreams. I had no inspiration. I had no plans for the future. I had nothing except for a desperate desire to get high.

But the incredibly ironic truth was that I still kept hearing this very still, small voice inside of me that kept telling me that I was destined for something great. I rarely heard that voice, but when I did I felt this desperate desire to change. I would tell myself that I was going to change... someday.

The funny thing about life is that it doesn't matter how much we want to change- our want doesn't get us where we need to go. It is our radical choices and huge beliefs that truly change us. It's listening to that voice and acting on it.

When I got clean at the end of 2014, I started hearing that small voice more. By 2015, the voice became louder after a miraculous experience with God. I knew that God gave me something special to give to the world.

For the last few days, I've been working with this grammy-winning engineer and producer. He's produced Drake, Adele, Ed Sheeran and many others. The song we made, along with my producer Brennan, will impact many lives. We will make more songs that will, too. For the last almost 2 years I have made choices to pursue my calling, with the radical belief that my music will transcend the darkness in this world and it will inspire people to change.

If you hear that same voice inside of you calling you to be something more- LISTEN to it. So many people have tried to tell me that I should be doing something else, years ago I was told I'd only ever be a drug addict.. but the point is that only YOU can hear that still small voice and only you know your calling. It may seem crazy to everyone else, but it doesn't matter what they think you should be.

Keep believing. Keep making choices that align with your calling. Keep hoping for more. People who listen to that still small voice move mountains. Anything is possible.
