Now in its eighth cohort, the Jack Petchey Internship Programme helps young people kickstart their careers in the youth sector, while supporting organisations to expand the impact they make. So far, we’ve supported over 170 young people into vital roles in youth work.

Your organisation may be eligible to apply for a grant to fund a paid intern starting in March 2026 if you:
🌟 Are a youth charity or CIO working with young people in London or Essex
🌟 Run the Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme
🌟 Have an income between £150k and £5m

📅 Application deadline: 9am, Monday 8 September 2025.

Marion Stokes, a former librarian from Philadelphia, began recording television news in 1979, believing broadcasts would be altered or lost over time. For the next 35 years, she recorded around the clock, amassing over 71,000 VHS and Betamax tapes containing an estimated 840,000 hours of footage.

Her home filled with televisions, recorders, and stacks of tapes, becoming a personal archive of modern media history. After her passing in 2012, her collection was donated to the Internet Archive, where it is being digitized to preserve her extraordinary record of how history was broadcast.

Future Film Focus - Promoting Emerging Talent in Waltham Forest

Future Film Focus is an annual event which brings film organisations, broadcasters and training organisations to venues in the borough and invites schools and community groups to learn about bursaries, apprenticeships, training and education in the creative industries.

Started in 2018, partner organisations include the Barbican, the BFI, BBC, ITV, Film London, Media Trust and Royal Television Society. Over 100 young people have volunteered as film makers, social media managers, event coordinators and ushers and more than 30 have gone on to training, internships, work experience or apprenticeships through the networking opportunities with media professionals at the events.
