The Central Java Regional Police's Narcotics Research Directorate succeeded in thwarting an attempt to smuggle 13.9 kg of crystal methamphetamine. The illegal goods were hidden in the door walls and dashboard of the car.

Director of Narcotics at the Central Java Regional Police, Commissioner Anwar Nasir, said that his party received a report of the delivery of crystal methamphetamine from Pontianak to Semarang by two perpetrators with the initials RT (39) and MIA (31). These two Surabaya residents are known to have slept in Pontianak on December 24 2024.

Following reports of alleged extortion involving Malaysian nationals at the Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP), 18 police officers from various units have been detained for further investigation by Polri's Internal Affairs Division (Propam).

The syndicate was involved in the illegal departure of migrant workers through unregulated routes. The operation led to the rescue of multiple victims, including workers from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and the arrest of seven suspects.

This case underlines the importance of raising awareness about human trafficking and ensuring that migrant workers only use legal employment channels. The Police urge everyone to verify the legality of labor sponsors and contracts to protect the rights of our migrant workers.
