On June 29, 1969, Tom Seaver became the New York Mets' all-time leader in victories, achieving his 44th career win with the team in a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Mets won the game 7-3, and Seaver pitched a complete game, striking out 10 and walking four. Seaver's 198 wins with the Mets remains a franchise record.

On June 26, 1968, Cardinals right-hander Bob Gibson threw his fifth consecutive shutout as he blanked the Pirates, 3-0, in the first game of a doubleheader played at Busch Stadium. The future Hall of Famer's accomplishment is one shy of the major league mark, set earlier in the month by Don Drysdale of the Dodgers.

On June 17, 1960, Ted Williams hit his 500th career home run, becoming only the fourth player in Major League Baseball history to reach that milestone. The historic blast occurred in Cleveland, where Williams, playing for the Boston Red Sox, hit the home run against the Cleveland Indians. He was the fourth player to reach the 500 home run mark, joining Babe Ruth, Jimmie Foxx, and Mel Ott. Williams finished his career with 521 home runs.
