me? posting about skincare?? on my skincare account??? shocker, I know!!

in no particular order, lately I’ve been really liking:

anyways, taking a(n unexpected, extended) break from skincare content was actually really good for me. it allowed me to really enjoy products without feeling rushed or pressured to move on to the next thing I need to review/make content about and overall just be a lot more mindful of my consumption. also now that I’m no longer working in the skincare industry, it’s easier for this to be a hobby for me again

tbh, I don’t think I’ll ever go back to the old days of being a Skincare Content Creator but I truly did miss making my own content like this :)

I tried all 3 BOJ sunscreens so you don't have to :)

I went through this phase last year where I was obsessed with the BOJ Relief Sun Cream and I went through like 12 tubes !! so when BOJ announced 2 new sunscreens, I was like :o I should compare them !! so here are my thoughts:

Rice + Probiotics Relief Sun Cream
- some ppl have experienced a white cast with it but I haven't
- glowy finish that kind of feels sticky for a bit before drying down
- as previously stated, I was OBSESSED, but I've since realized there are better sunscreens that are cheaper and don't feel sticky :(

Ginseng Moist Sun Serum
- no white cast :)
- after a couple hours of wear, my skin feels tight and dehydrated but still has a greasy film on top?? (very similar to 's experience with it)
- made my eyes water a bit
- mmmm yummy pump packaging

Mugwort + Camelia Matte Sun Stick
- matte finish
- feels like it drags on my skin and leaves little chunks behind
- also doesn't layer on top of makeup (most sun sticks don't but this was especially atrocious. it's like I took a cleansing balm stick to my face)

TLDR: the Relief Sun Cream isn't my favourite anymore but I still think it's worth the try, esp if you have dry skin. the Moist Sun Serum was marketed towards oily skin, but it left me feeling both greasy and tight, so idk what skin type will like this. the Matte Sun Stick is great for reapplying if you have oily skin, but beware using it over makeup :)

birth control pills are available over the counter (OTC) in over 100 countries, yet a prescription is required in Canada & the US. The current prescription-only model creates unnecessary barriers to birth control pills. things like access to a primary care physician, time off work, transportation to visit a provider, and insurance coverage all keep people from getting the care they need.

don’t cry over spilled (moon glow) milk(y toning lotion)!

hello hello! it’s been like 6 months since my last real review on here (school got busy) but now that I’m back, I want to talk about this toner from .world (pr - thank you!) ♡⁣

tbh it’s everything I want in a toner…. on paper. it’s a super light but creamy, with ceramides, urea, snow mushroom extract, and niacinamide — basically all the ingredients I’ve been obsessed with for the past year. it leaves my skin really calm & hydrated and it layers well with other products!!

BUT idk if it’s just me but the texture reminds me of how water feels like when you’re washing off a clay mask??? idk if that makes any sense but that’s just too big of an ick for me. I’ve learned to not really think about it bc the formula is so good and it’d be a waste, but if it weren’t for the texture this would be an automatic favourite :( I haven’t seen anyone else mention it so maybe I just got a bad batch? idk

I would cry if I dropped and spilled it though

I’ve talked about this on my story a bit, but I’ve been trying to get more into Pinoy beauty lately :> these lippies are my favourite mattes - they’re super comfy on my lips and don’t leave them super crusty.

there are so many really cool pinoy beauty brands out there, but they can be difficult to get here in Canada :< I’ve found a few retailers that ship internationally though!~

quick ramble bc it’s been a while since I’ve ranted/overshared on here and I don’t have anything else to talk about~

I feel like I'm stuck in this cycle of overloading myself with work, feeling overwhelmed and missing deadlines, falling into a slump for a month, then when I finally get up the energy to do things, I overwhelm myself again. and because of that, I feel like I don't really deserve the good things and opportunities in my life rn. I have a few exciting projects coming up, I got into the college program I was stressing about a month ago on my story, and life is generally going good, but there's this lingering fear in the back of my mind (and tbh, a very real possibility) that its all going to go away if I don't get my act together

I'm trying not to think too much about that bc thats usually what leads me to being overwhelmed and procrastinating, but its difficult not to. I feel like I'm years behind people my age when it comes to time management and everything I do is one big game of catch up. I feel like I'm finally starting to make progress though, at least compared to how I was faring in 2021, but I attribute that mostly to external pressures to get things done

regardless, I am proud of myself for the progress I’ve made, and it’s starting to become easier to pull myself out of the slumps that inevitably come my way. they don’t last as long anymore. I feel like I’m in the middle of one right now, but I’m hoping I can get myself out of it soon.

sent over their Cleanse Intimate Skin Foaming Wash & Nourish Intimate Skin Moisturizer (pr - thank you!) and here are my thoughts~

first of all, I love everything about Bloomi. they're a BIPOC and sexologist founded business that really emphasizes education and inclusion. they recently launched their own line of intimate wellness and pleasure products that aren't unnecessarily gendered, and are developed with all genitalia in mind. Cleanse and Nourish are both part of this collection.

seeing gender-neutral intimate washes and moisturizers feels like a breath of fresh air to me - most intimate washes are unnecessarily gendered, but I put up with them anyway because I don't want to use my normal body wash in my intimate areas. I have dry skin, so I use hydrating body washes that usually contain glycerin - an ingredient that can cause irritation and yeast infections when used near the va**na.

as Cleanse is made with all bodies in mind, it is free from glycerin, and instead uses aloe vera in its place to hydrate. the resulting foam feels soft, and lefts my skin feeling soft too, but it still gets the job of cleaning done.

Nourish is also glycerin free - it is oil based, with coconut oil, sesame seed oil, and shea butter as its star players. its incredibly soothing, especially on irritated skin, and surprisingly leaves my hair softer. it can feel a bit /slippery/ after first putting it on though, like you're walking around with a bunch of l**e between your legs, but it absorbs in a matter of minutes.

I'm really happy to have been able to try these products, and I'm definitely going to restock on these once I'm out. the price point ($9 USD for Cleanse, $13 USD for Nourish) makes repurchasing all the more enticing. I've also been trying out the rest of the line, which I will review in the coming weeks :>
