THURSDAY: If you dared to be unconventional in your thinking yesterday, it may pay off today. Mercury sextiles Uranus at 5:44 AM ET. Walking the talk is supported by a sextile between Sun (leaders) and action hero/warrior Mars, exact at 10:11 AM ET. Well, that explains why Pete Hegseth gave a press conference at 8 AM ET, channeling his inner Lord John Whorfin (look it up — watch the movie; Buckaroo Banzai is a classic).

Moon sextiles Venus at 11:08 AM ET -- potentially facilitating diplomacy and maybe...dare I hope for it...something good for women, money, the arts, and other values.

Mercury is at the verrrry end of Cancer for most of the day, so we may hear a lot of talk about home/homeland security at a crisis point (Exhibit A is the above-referenced presser, where Hegseth declared that America is “special," with great emotion, as any planet in Cancer needs to do).

Cooler heads are NOT likely to prevail once Mercury enters Leo at 3:09 PM ET, where it will remain until September 2nd. (Mercury turns retrograde on July 18th in Leo and turns direct on August 11th). Mercury in Leo may be a firebrand, but one which can organize thoughts in a way that permits others to shine, so long as Leo Mercury is shining, too.

“An astronaut who spent 178 days in space reveals a "big lie" he realized when he saw the Earth.

Ron Garan, a former NASA astronaut, has spent 178 days in space and accumulated more than 114 million kilometers traveling in 2,842 orbits around Earth. His journey, however, hasn't been just about impressive numbers. During one of those trips, he experienced something that few humans have ever experienced: the so-called Overview Effect, a phenomenon that transforms the way we see our planet.

The Overview Effect is a reality shock common among astronauts. By observing the Earth from space, they realize, viscerally, that the planet is a unique, fragile and interconnected system. For Garan, the experience was so remarkable that he describes it as a “great awakening”. In an interview with the site Big Think, he revealed: "Certain things become undeniably clear when you're up there."

From his window on the International Space Station, Garan witnessed breathtaking natural phenomena: lightning storms that resembled paparazzi flashes, the northern lights dancing like glowing curtains, and the Earth's atmosphere so thin you could "almost touch with your hands." But it was the fineness of that layer that had him on his toes. "I realized that everything that sustains life on Earth depends on a fragile layer, almost like paper," he explained.

The atmosphere, a few kilometers thick, is what protects all life forms from hostile conditions of space. For Garan, this view has highlighted a paradox: while the biosphere is vibrant and full of life, human systems treat the planet as a “subsidy to the global economy.” In other words, we prioritize economic growth at the expense of the natural systems that sustain us. "We're living a lie," he stated.

The astronaut also pointed out how problems like global warming, deforestation, and loss of biodiversity are treated as isolated issues when, in fact, they are symptoms of a larger problem: human disconnection with the planet. "From space, it becomes clear that we do not see each other as part of a whole. "As long as we do not change this mentality, we will continue to be in crisis," he said.

The solution, according to Garan, is a radical change of priorities. Instead of thinking about "economy, society, planet", we should reverse the order: "planet, society, economy". This simple exchange reflects the need to place environmental health as the basis for all other decisions. "This is the only way we will really evolve," he argued.

Another crucial point is interdependence. Garan compared the Overview Effect to "a lightening lamp" - an epiphany about how every human action, however small it may seem, affects the global balance. "We will not have peace on Earth until we recognize that everything is interconnected," he affirmed.

Since returning to Earth, Garan has dedicated himself to projects that promote sustainability and global cooperation. His message is clear:
We urgently need to rethink our place in the world.

Have you ever stopped to imagine what it would be like to see the Earth from this perspective? While that doesn't happen, Garan's vision reminds us that every choice - from energy consumption to resources usage - is a step toward preserving (or destroying) this delicate "shell" we call home."

At 10:42 PM ET, the Sun exits pixie-chatterbox Gemini and enters Cancer. Happy Summer Solstice! Happy Birthday, Cancer the Crab!

Here’s what you need to know about the first day of any season — i.e., equinoxes and solstices — from an astrological point of view. The first days of Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter correspond with the first day (or first degree) of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, respectively (there are thirty degrees in each sign of the zodiac). Got that? Good. (This is for the Northern Hemisphere. The Southern Hemisphere has different rules).

These four signs are called CARDINAL signs. Cardinal signs initiate. They come up with the idea and put it into action, which leads to necessary change. “Cardinal” suggests (from the Latin root of the word), “that on which something turns or depends.” So the first day/degree of a Cardinal sign is a turning point.

A person born with the Sun in Cancer is here to create and maintain emotional security. Cancer is ruled by the Moon, which changes signs faster than any other celestial body. Moon refers to emotional response; thus, Cancers have a rep for being moody. The keywords for Cancer are: I FEEL. If you are a Cancer born in the first few days of the sign, my money says you’ve been feeling a lot these days. Same goes for those born in the first few days of Aries, Libra, and Capricorn. Maybe you’d like to talk about it with your astrologer -- my calendar is open.

Meanwhile, keep an eye on Elizabeth Warren, Adam Schiff, and Prince William in the news -- they're all early Cancers.

FRIDAY: After yesterday’s unimpeded trek through me-me-me-first Aries, the Moon finally clashes with messenger Mercury at 6:31 AM ET, sparking a possible adjustment of a "because I said so" message about home and family security concerns. Then, the proactive Aries lunar drive picks up right where it left off, traveling through the day without interference, save for a harmony (a sextile) with the Sun at 9:49 PM ET. Note that Sun is now at the verrrrrry end of Gemini -- our third planet at a crisis point this week! The last degree of Gemini demands our attention, especially in matters of information related to leaders of business and state. Leaders whose horoscopes are affected by this pattern (and thus may be featured in the news) include Ted Cruz, Liz Cheney, Adam Schiff, Elizabeth Warren, Pete Hegseth, Emmanuel Macron, Prince William, King Charles, Woodrow Wilson, and Alexei Navalny. The horoscope lives forever, doncha' know -- and I wrote an article about that topic, linked below. https://www.astro.com/astrology/tma_article161208_e.htm

FRIDAY (cont.): At 9:52 PM ET, Moon enters Ta**us, seeking to build something sustainable out of the Aries Moon’s fiery initiative. "Keep calm and carry on" is one apt Moon-in-Ta**us mantra. Another is, “I’m not going anywhere.” Meanwhile, at 10:42 PM ET, the Sun exits pixie-chatterbox Gemini and enters Cancer, the beginning of a new season. To be continued…

In my more than seven years of reporting, it's become clear that we can find a lot of planetary action in the horoscope of someone who is suddenly hot in the press. That's not surprising. What is surprising is that it doesn't seem to matter whether that someone is dead or alive. The transits and sol...

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Moon charges into Aries at 7:07 PM ET, seeking to lead the way -- often where no one has gone before. Tonight, the fiery me-me-me Aries drive is gobsmacked by contact with Saturn (heavy cuts; authoritative control; reality), Jupiter (expansion), and Neptune (fog; the surreal) -- all within just over an hour -- at 9:38 PM ET, 10:45 PM ET, and 10:46 PM ET, respectively. This suggests another turning point demanding attention, and it's a sneak peek of a truckload of action we are going to see over the weekend and through next Tuesday, when the Cancer Sun runs the same gauntlet as the Moon does today. The Moon's journey is happening behind a backdrop that challenges our faith in reality. I'm talking about the tension (a square) between Jupiter in home and family-oriented Cancer and Neptune, exact at 11:15 PM ET. Whatever pioneering initiatives emerge this evening, power and resources are likely to be engaged, as Moon sextiles Pluto at 12:56 AM ET on...THURSDAY...after which the Aries Moon travels without interference for the rest of the day, with its need for fiery action building in size and intensity like our familiar snowball rolling down a mountain... FRIDAY ASTROLOGY PSA: The Capricorn Moon travels without interference all day. The need to Make Things Happen in matters of government and authority builds in size and intensity, like our familiar snowball rolling down a mountain. Humming in the background are two of three patterns reflected in much of the action we are currently seeing in the headlines. These two patterns are exact on Sunday morning; the third is exact on June 18th. Here are details on the first pattern — please refer to the forecast posted on Monday for details on the second pattern, which is truly a potential turning point. You'll find that forecast (Why Now News) at elisabethgrace.substack.com.

Pattern #1: Mars square Uranus

Mars-Uranus patterns suggest seismic activity, gender-benders, aviation, accidents, fireworks, cars, steel, fi****ms, tech breakthroughs, rebels, and medical news involving testosterone, the head and the brain. Here are examples of headlines from past Mars-Uranus squares — https://elisabethgrace.com/tag/mars-square-uranus/page/3/ -- oh how innocent we were then.

The last time Mars was in a tense pattern with Uranus was in the first two weeks of July 2024. Mars was in Ta**us, and its July 15th meet-up with Uranus (in Ta**us) marked the beginning of a new cycle for the planets of action and chaos. This conjunction included the fixed star Algol — associated with losing one's head, including literal decapitations.

This square is similar to a First Quarter Moon. We anticipate tension, related to the seeds planted at the beginning of the cycle.

We may see similar "taking it to the next level" outbursts that are related to daring, disruptive — arguably reckless — actions of July 2024. One thing that definitely seems to be "taking July 2024 to the next level" is the effort by the current regime to amplify violence as a justification for seizing power.

That is what I wonder if they may be doing with the transfer of hundreds of tanks by train from Texas to DC for the "parade." Corporate media has questioned the parade's ridiculous costs. They've argued that tanks could damage DC streets. They question the size of the birthday would-be king’s ego. But I can't recall anyone asking for confirmation that the tanks are scheduled to be shipped back to Texas after June 14th, and it makes me wonder.

You are more personally affected by the maverick, reckless, accident-prone, breakthrough potential of Mars square Uranus if you have planets or angles around 29 degrees of Ta**us, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, give or take a few degrees.

Fun fact: It was on a Mars-Uranus square that Pope Francis, when asked how he might act as a confessor to a gay person, replied “Who am I to judge?” Disruptive and innovative, yes? Will we see this attitude of radical acceptance advanced in Pope Leo's Saturday speech? If so, it would be astro-logical.

MONDAY: Absolutely, positively, no sleeping in. Night owls may have noticed a stubbornly aggressive outburst around 1:56 AM ET, as the Scorpio Moon squared regal Mars. An upset -- shocking, perhaps -- hits the wires around 8:06 AM ET, as Moon opposes rebel Uranus. Chill during the nearly three-hour Moon void. Moon shifts gears and soars into Sagittarius at 10:55 AM ET, driving the next few days with a need for fiery, righteous, boundary-pushing opinions. Said opinions may be sobering and sanewashing at the same time, especially with two squares among Mercury, Saturn and Neptune (in effect all weekend, BTW) exact today at 6:48 AM ET and 6:54 PM ET. Mercury square Saturn-Neptune suggests a heavy authoritarian mindset/reality check with utterly bewildering spin. A square between Venus and Pluto (exact at 1:20PM ET) suggests matters of money, values, and social expression in the extreme (watch the markets). At 5:02 PM ET, Jupiter, planet of expansion and reward, enters Cancer, putting motherhood and homeland on a pedestal for the next 12 months, as discussed in last Monday’s forecast. Meanwhile, FWIW, patron subscribers received this forecast shortly after midnight, along with a podcast of insights on the astrology of current events. Astro-logical PSA for the weekend -- may it serve you well.
SUNDAY: Scorpio Moon demands depth and substance as it seeks to consolidate knowledge for the sake of control. It traveled without interference all through Saturday and continues today, prompting an image of a ginormous snowball of pent-up feeling rolling down a mountain, gathering in size and strength until it finally collides in a square with Mars in Leo (which historically gets away with murder) at 1:56 AM ET on...MONDAY. But wait, there's more. As the Scorpio Moon continues on a potential retribution rampage, Mercury (how we need to think and communicate) and Jupiter (expansion; broadcasting) are at the verrrrrrrrry end of Gemini, on the prominent Aries Point. Their meet-up is exact at 4:11 PM ET. So…lots of big news about news, e.g., last night’s “Good Night and Good Luck” (first live TV airing of a Broadway show, which happens to be about news anchor Edward Murrow), etc.

SUNDAY: At 6:58 PM ET Mercury enters Cancer, where it will remain until June 26th. Cancer needs emotional security — and is focused on fulfilling those needs in family, heritage, home and homeland. Thus, someone with Mercury in Cancer (e.g., F47) needs to think and communicate based on feelings, sometimes with uncanny intuition.

MONDAY: Absolutely, positively, no sleeping in. The morning begins with a disruption of the status quo that reflects a combination of a heavy authoritarian advance or reality check, coupled with the surreal. Other patterns suggest emotions on the rise and in the extreme (watch the markets).
