I can say that the highest levels of sacrifice is INITIATIVE. Knowing what to do and doing it without being told, employees should be empowered too

Having the right attitude towards what you do is as important as how you do it. It is better to hire the attitude and train the skill rather than the other way round.

This means that skills only are hardly ever enough. Stepping up for the customer when it matters most. Shep Hyken wrote about his zoom presentation with Horst Shulze, the co-founder of The Ritz, a man I respect so much. Horst was said to have shared a story about one of his staff who flew over to another location just to return the laptop that a guest who had already checked out but forgot his laptop in the room.

The guest had called the hotel and was in a deep panic that he had lost his laptop which was very important for his meeting. The house keeper who found the laptop immediately got on the next flight to hawaii just to give the laptop to the owner and returned with the next available flight.
If you were the customer, how would you feel?

We are in the business of emotions, hire the right people and empoewer them to do what they have to. The staff was empowered but also took the initiative
