Official Statement on Oluwatobi Emmanuel Adesanya (Mister of Nigeria 2024)
Oluwatobi Emmanuel Adesanya was crowned Mister of Nigeria on June 16, 2024. From the onset, things were not off to the best start particularly due to his lack of communication and engagement. Still, we remained hopeful. New titleholders often need time to adjust, and we believed with proper guidance and support, things would improve as the reign progressed.
When it was time to begin the visa process for the international competitions in Thailand, all necessary information and requirements were shared with Tobi, Samuel Nwajagu, and Favour Ogbuokiri who were all scheduled to represent Nigeria in the same country. Tobi was instructed to write a letter and complete several standard steps. While his counterparts responded swiftly and submitted their requirements, Tobi never completed his, despite several reminders.
In addition to that, some of the sponsors we worked with specifically requested to collaborate with Tobi and offered him products and opportunities. One in particular provided him with valuable items, expecting deliverables in return. Tobi did nothing that was required of him, and this lack of professionalism ultimately damaged our relationship with that sponsor.
On November 28th, 2024, the organization made the difficult decision to officially dethrone him due to his lack of commitment, poor communication and utter disregard for his duties and the organization. However, after multiple conversations with him and internal management deliberations, we chose to place him on probation instead. Please note that there is actual proof of the email conversation of this, including his apology email and our response.
Despite this second chance, Tobi’s conduct did not improve.
There was no tangible work, no progress, and absolutely no preparation for the international pageant he was expected to attend. As a result, the organization made the informed decision not to have him represent Nigeria at Manhunt International 2025. He was officially informed of this decision on the 2nd of April with an official letter that was sent.
While conversations around a full dethronement resurfaced, the organization opted to extend him the grace of completing his reign with dignity allowing him his final walk without any public incident.
Even this was met with nonchalance.
Tobi was expected to film various media assets during camp, including an opening video for the finale show. These were not done, as he left Lagos impromptu just days before camp began and only returned on the day of the finale. Because of this, styling, fittings, and all planned content involving him had to be scrapped.
Still, the plan remained for him to have his final walk during the live show. Our host even made the official announcement only for us to realize that Tobi had already left the venue without notice. As always, the show had to go on.
This statement is not made lightly. For months, the organization chose silence over conflict. We had hoped he would step up, or at the very least, exit quietly and respectfully. Unfortunately, the events of last night have led to increased public inquiry, and we are now left with no option but to clarify the facts.
We wish Tobi the very best moving forward. However, it is important to make it clear: we exhausted every opportunity to support and salvage this reign. The legacy of Misters of Nigeria is built on excellence, reliability, and discipline and we will always prioritize those values above all.
