The Toledo Walleye held serve on their home ice in the first two games of the Central Division Final Series, as the scene will shift to Wheeling in the coming week. Brandon Hawkins snapped a second-period deadlock with a controversial goal, and the Walleye followed that up with three more, as recorded a 5-2 win for a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The second round comes to Wheeling's Wesbanco Arena this Tuesday evening.

Karl Crabtree is a resident of the Upper Ohio Valley who has been featured on LEDE News before this evening. He’s 36 years old, married, and is the father of a son and daughter. Crabtree also is an enthusiast of the paranormal, but this is where separation exists between the East Ohio native and others who, say, walk the vast hallways of the former W.Va.

Despite the clouds, West Liberty University graduates enjoyed a bright celebration as they gathered in-person for Commencement Ceremonies held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 11. Three-hundred and ninety-three students are included in the Class of 2022. President W. Franklin Evans presided over the ceremony held in the Academic, Sports and Recreation Complex (ASRC)

The Wheeling Nailers hit a bump in the road on Friday night, as they opened their Central Division Final Series against the Toledo Walleye at Huntington Center. Toledo got rolling quickly with four goals in the first 22 minutes of play, and carried that effort to a 5-1 game one victory. Josh Maniscalco tallied the lone goal for the Nailers on a first-period power play.

Following this evening, the series shifts to Wheeling.

With the weather warming up, it’s definitely time for picnics and picnic-type salads. It’s easy to get into pasta salads and potato salads kick this time of year, but don’t forget your fresh veggie salads like this Mediterranean salad that one of my friends from Connect in the Kitchen made. It’s beautiful, right? We know that we’re eating healthy when our plate has a lot of vibrant colors.

In memory of their parents, the Calissie family is once again spearheading a Summer Swim Pass program which will provide pool passes for children who could not otherwise afford them. With support from the community and Wheeling’s Department of Parks & Recreation, The Calissie family hopes to provide passes to many kids in need. Last year, the program funded more than 300 pool passes.

Those wishing to make a contribution to the Summer Swim Pass program can do so by sending a check to Wheeling’s Parks & Recreation Department at 1500 Chapline St., Wheeling, W.Va. 26003

West Liberty University’s Student Government Association (SGA) leaders were sworn in at the annual Honors Convocation held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2022. Executive Director of Housing and Student Life Marcella Snyder administered the oaths of office at the end of the convocation to incoming President Sydney Burkle and Vice President Cody Dixon-Rushman.

The association governs itself on three overarching principles: service, leadership and integrity.
