We’re so quick to label people as rude, cold, or cruel —when most of the time, they’re just broken and tired.
You think their sharp words are who they are… but they’re only what exhaustion made them become. When you’re running on empty, when you’ve given everything away and have nothing left for yourself—you don’t act out of malice. You act out of survival.
It doesn’t make it okay. But it should make you pause.
Before you decide someone is bad, ask yourself: Have I ever been so overwhelmed I snapped at someone I love? Have I ever shut down because I couldn’t carry one more thing?
We judge people on their worst days, and call it “seeing their true self.” But the truth? Exhaustion doesn’t reveal who you are—it reveals how much you’ve had to endure.
Stop confusing someone’s breaking point with their character. The person who snaps at you today might be the same person who has held everyone else together for years.
