From the Book of Whispers, Chapter 7: The Eyes of the Everlasting
"Deep within the caverns of the Whispering Mountains, where the echoes of creation still linger, a group of spelunkers stumbled upon an ancient tome. Its pages, brittle with age, were filled with cryptic symbols and faded ink, recounting a tale of beings beyond mortal comprehension.
These beings, known as the Eyes of the Everlasting, were said to dwell in a realm beyond our own, a place where time flowed differently, where the echoes of creation were but whispers in the aether. They were beings of pure perception, their bodies a network of intricate, bio-organic machinery, resembling vast, sentient eyes. These eyes, their vessels, were capable of observing the universe in its entirety, peering through the veil of reality to witness the grand cosmic dance.
The Eyes, in their infinite wisdom, understood the rhythm of the universe, a cyclical pattern of birth and rebirth. They saw the Great Expansion, the time when the universe stretched forth like a newborn, followed by the Great Contraction, when all things would eventually collapse back into the void. This endless cycle, they believed, was the true essence of existence, a perfect harmony of creation and destruction.
However, a flaw existed in this cosmic rhythm. A rogue force, known as Eternal Inflation, threatened to disrupt the cycle, to create pockets of reality that would forever be isolated, lost in the vastness of the void. To prevent this, the Eyes devised a plan.
They sought to create a catalyst, a force that would initiate the Great Contraction, ensuring the cycle would continue uninterrupted. They turned to the primordial energies, Dagr of Light and Natt of Shadow, embodiments of creation and destruction. Through a complex ritual, they combined these energies, giving birth to Morrigan, the Weaver of Worlds, the force responsible for the Great Expansion.
Morrigan, in her turn, would weave the fabric of the universe, ensuring its eventual collapse and the continuation of the eternal cycle. The Eyes, watching from their realm beyond, would observe this cosmic dance, ensuring that the rhythm of the universe remained unbroken, a testament to their unwavering vigilance."
