Yesterday while visiting Shiloh Baptist Church… something beautiful happened.
Debbie Holt was leaving morning service when she heard a voice behind her
“Ms. Debbie?”
She turned around and saw one of her Cookies and Milk Project girls “Alana” from nearly a decade ago
Once quiet and unsure
Now a confident young woman walking in purpose
That’s what The Cookies and Milk Project has always been about
Launched in 2014, it began as a safe space where girls could talk, grow, and be reminded that they are worthy
Cookies, journaling, storytelling, and sisterhood
But times changed, and so did the vision
Girls were stepping into a world driven by technology, yet often left out of it
So Debbie evolved the mission
Now entering its next chapter as Cookies and Milk Project X, while passing the mantel the program collaborates with OfGeneration a growing tech entity to blend mentorship with hands-on experiences in AI, creativity, and ethical tech
It’s still about confidence
It’s still about voice and vision
But now, it’s also about access, innovation, and creating futures in spaces where girls have been overlooked
Ms. McKnight hugged her
A quiet moment
A full-circle reminder of why this work matters
Ten years in and just getting started
Cookies and Milk Project X is building strong girls who are ready to lead, code, create, and mentor the next generation
