Welcome to The Ostrich Inn in Colnbrook, Slough—a historic coaching inn that some say dates back to 1106, making it England’s third-oldest inn. But it’s not just the age of this quaint spot that sends chills down your spine. In the 17th century, a landlord named Jarman and his wife allegedly used a trapdoor under a guest bed to send victims plunging into a vat of boiling water. They’re said to have stolen from over 60 victims before facing justice at the end of a rope.

With legends like these, it’s no wonder The Ostrich is rumored to host restless spirits, including infamous figures like Dick Turpin and even King John. People say the past is very much alive within these walls—whispers in the halls, shadowy figures, and a feeling that someone might be watching…
