An empire waist is my favorite feature on a dress by far!

It’s the perfect style waistline for me and makes me feel comfortable and confident wearing it.

Any waistline that hits above the tummy at a smaller part of the waist is going to look good on you if you don’t have a flat stomach.

Just make sure that the fabric doesn’t flow out or balloon out too much and you’ll be looking great!

Here’s a few tips and tricks for choosing a dress that will fit your body type.

The first thing I’ll start with is choosing a dress with a little bit of structure in the shoulders not too much, but just enough. It’ll add definition to a sloped shoulder, and make you look more proportionate

The next thing I’ll look for is an Empire waist which flows nicely over the stomach and doesn’t add too much volume. You’ll want something that’s gathered but doesn’t have too many pleats in it or it is too poofy.

And finally, I like to find a dress for winter that has room for leggings, tights or pants underneath. That tip goes out to all you northern girls who like to wear your dresses all year long!
