Since 2005 Phoenix Music International has been quietly and painstakingly building a catalogue of music that crosses genres, eras, geographical lines, scenes and cities. It began with Belfern and Deviant, and since has taken in Gut, Telstar, Jet Star, Resist, Collins Classics, Renaissance and Azuli. A proper in-house publishing company now exists, as does a team of nine music lovers of all tastes

and flavours. At the heart is a simple philosophy – we do the best we can for the artists, writers and labels that make up our catalogue. “The best” may mean tracking down digital royalties from an independent release in Mexico, it may mean syncing a track to a Hollywood blockbuster, or it may mean actually tracking down an artist to tell them we have royalties for them. 📀 The Story of Gut Records 🎶
From a rejected single to international success…

When I'm Too Sexy by Right Said Fred couldn’t find a label, radio plugger Guy Holmes released it himself - and it became a global hit. That bold move led to the founding of Gut Records.

The label went on to sign artists like Space, Aswad, and many more - helping shape the sound of UK alternative and dance music through the late 90s and early 2000s.

Its dance imprint Gusto brought global hits like Out of Touch by Uniting Nations and Love Don’t Let Me Go by David Guetta vs The Egg to dancefloors worldwide.

In 2008, the Gut back catalogue became part of Phoenix Music International - where the legacy lives on.

Two 90s alt-rock classics from Liverpool’s finest, SPACE the Band Official , reissued in 2022 by Demon Music Group to coincide with the band’s UK tour, and now essential listening all over again.

- Debut album, reached #5 on the UK charts

- Known for its quirky, cinematic sound & humour

- Features hits like Female Of The Species & Neighbourhood

- Reissued on vibrant purple vinyl

🪐 Tin Planet (1998):

- Follow-up album, peaked at #3 on the UK charts

- Includes Avenging Angels & The Ballad of Tom Jones (ft. Cerys Matthews)
- 2022 saw its first-ever vinyl release, on clear vinyl with silver splatter + signed print (limited to 500 copies)
