*Two employees of Airtel cellular company electrocuted in Sopore, hospitalized*

Sopore, Jul 13 (KN): Two employees of Airtel cellular company were on Tuesday critically injured after they received an electric shock in Zanipora Bomai area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

An official told the news agency—KHOIE News (KN) that Javid Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Hassan Dar from Hathlangoo and Shabir Ahmad Dar, son of Afzal Dar were critically injured while repairing a mobile tower in Bomai Sopore.

Hospital authorities confirmed that the duo was immediately rushed to Sopore hospital wherefrom they were shifted to Srinagar’s SMHS hospital for advanced treatment—(KN)

*BJP worker shot dead, two others injured in Qazigund*

Srinagar: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was shot dead while two others sustained injuries in an attack at Y K Pora area of Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday evening.

The slain BJP leader has been identified as Yuva Morcha General Secretary Kulgam, Fida Hussain Itoo.

An official said that the militants fired upon three persons in Y K pora, among them one has died on the spot while two others have been shifted to emergency hospital in Qazigund.

BJP’s media-in charge Kashmir, Manzoor Bhat said that three party workers were attacked by the militants in Kulgam and one among them identified as Fida Hussain has succumbed to his injuries.

The injured persons have been identified as Umar Hajjam and Waseem Ahmad, who are undergoing treatment at emergency hospital Qazigund.

*Sopore youth’s su***de body retrieved from river jehlum after 7 days*

*Sopore, Oct 28* : The body of a youth who allegedly committed su***de by jumping into river jehlum in north Kashmir’s Sopore last week was fished out from jehlum after 7 days.

*Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that the body of the teenager identified as Shahid Nazir son of Nazir Ahmad Changal, a resident of Ahadbab crossing, who allegedly committed su***de by jumping into river jehlum last week on 21 October.*
*However, after hectic efforts by teams of police, Navy, SDRF the body was retrieved today morning.*

A police officer told Kashmir Despatch that the body has taken to Sub District hospital Sopore and after medical and legal formalities it will be handed over to legal heirs for last rites. *(KN)*

*Kashmir to face water scarcity as casual labourers, daily wagers to begin two-day strike from Monday*

Srinagar, Oct 25 (KN): The tussle between the casual labourers and daily wagers and government in Kashmir is all set to leave valleyities into dizzy as the employees will begin 48-hour-long strike from Monday.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KN), the daily wagers, casual labourers and others under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Casual Labourers Forum have decided to begin 48-hour-long pen down (Kaam Chod) strike from Monday.

Sajad Ahmad Parray, president of the forum said that the government has forced them to take an extreme step today. "We are fighting for over rights from last several decades and will continue till our goal is achieved," he added.

He further stated that the strike has been called to show the government that the employees who have been pushed to the wall since long are working with honesty and dedication.

Parray also appealed to the employees not to attend their respective offices from tomorrow till next 48-hours to press for their demands.

He said the employees from Jammu province are on pen down (Kaam Chod) strike from last 30 days and now the government has forced employees of Kashmir division to begin a similar protest strike.

Sources said that many PHE offices are deserted as all the employees who are part of strike and were stationed at these offices have left. They added that the water supply will also get affected from Monday morning as the department would not be able to supply the water for the next 48-hours from tomorrow.

However, the local said that it will add to their miseries. A local resident from Old City area of Srinagar told KN that they are already facing water scarcity for a long now and the decision of employees to go for a strike will push them to face hardships further.

Meanwhile, Chief Engineer PHE Iftikhar Wani told KN that the strike by these employees will affect the water supply a bit, but the employees of the department who are also deputed on the plants will perform their duties to ensure that water supply is provided to the consumers—(KN)
