Been thinking all day of the trans folks and parents of trans kids across America who will be impacted by the outcome of the case that was argued today at the U.S. Supreme Court.

Folks like those here in Texas, and in Tennessee where this case originated, who are already impacted by decisions being made about them without them.

Trans folks, you are loved. By so many. This world is better because of you.

As Leslie Feinberg said, “My right to be me is tied with a thousand threads to your right to be you.”

Those threads are tugging on my heart tonight.

Trans folks: may you feel the immense love that exists in this world for you.

Cisgender folks: please follow and for more info on the monumental case that was heard at SCOTUS today. Please please use your safety as a cisgender person to stand up for the intersex and trans community. They are MIGHTY but they are such a small percentage of the population — between just 0.5 - 1.6% according to a 2022 UCLA study. Let’s not leave them to fend for themselves.

We need each other, and we are more powerful when we remember the 1,000 threads that bind us.

Are you bisexual, pansexual, or questioning and feel like you don’t quite fit in anywhere? Maybe you don’t feel q***r enough for q***r spaces… or maybe people assume you’re gay when you’re more fluid… maybe you feel like you’re hiding your q***rness in plain sight in straight spaces…

We need a space just for bi and pan folks! So come to the “Bi for Now” meet-up!

This is a really sweet group of folks who meet up in a very friendly and no-pressure space to color, chat, snack, and get to know each other. You will definitely want to stick around after the meet-up for the Extragrams Drag Queen Game Show starting at 8pm!!! It’s FREE.

See you at The Highball on Tuesday, December 17 at 6pm for a low-pressure, feel-good community experience followed by drag.

This is the holigay edition, so come in your finest tinsel (or don’t! literally this is very chill and while Becky our hostess LOVES a theme, you are not required to do anything but show up exactly as you wish).

Holiday season in the midst of this current political moment is A LOT. Connect with others who get it. Get your feelings out. Leave feeling lighter.

No one is meant to handle all this alone. That’s why Democrasexy is teaming up with Prism Integrated Health and OutWellness to offer connection, support, and JOY.

We will gather, get a little inspiration, and get the chance to share how we’re feeling in a low-pressure way with the guidance and support of the mental health professionals at Prism Integrated Health (they are q***r-owned and -operated!)

This meet-up is open to anyone who is concerned about the way things are going in Texas and the U.S. or who has complicated feelings about the election and/or the holidays.

We would love to share space with you and help you ease into the week with a sense of buoyancy.

FREE but donations are welcome to help us be able to compensate the facilitators.

Someone messaged me recently saying I always look like I’m having the best time, and often I am!

But I’ve also been going through a rough period for the last couple of years and I think it’s important to show that, too.

This photo is from the infusion center where I spent 5 hours today hooked up to an IV of medication that kills off my B cells. Because I have multiple sclerosis, my body’s immune response is off and sometimes attacks my own central nervous system.

This medication I get twice a year supposedly has a 90+% chance of protecting me from further degeneration due to MS (yay!), BUT the trade off is a weakened immune system that makes me much more likely to pick up every cold or flu that comes my way (boo!).

I have not always done a perfect job of protecting myself and others by masking, but I’m trying to be more consistent! It’s always wild to be in a roomful of people who are hooked up to immunosuppressants and be the only one in a mask (including hospital staff) but here we are 🫠

There are also more deeply personal challenges I’m facing that I’m not ready to get into publicly. Just know that the last couple years have been a lot on every level!

All of these challenges have been preparing me for the uncertain road ahead, and even though I’m far from having it all figured out I know I am capable of getting through some tough situations.

I’m working on an essay about the parallels I see between waiting for a major diagnosis and waiting for the new administration to begin… and the surprising coping mechanisms we might want to try in this liminal space. Keep an eye out for that soon!

P.S. those of you with a very keen eye will recognize the book in my lap is by — I’m working my way through her entire catalog alongside her Wayfinder training I’m doing for the next several months. I’m gaining extremely practical tools to help us navigate times of great change. More on that to come!
