NIGERIANS TO STOP EATING BUSH MEAT DUE TO MONKEYPOX VIRUS CASES IN THE COUNTRY.

After the confirmation of disease in Nigeria by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), killing 1 person, and 21 other infected persons currently being managed, the federal government has warned Nigerians against eating of Bush Meat and other rodents.
Also, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development (FMARD) has advised that “all operators of Zoos, Parks, Conservation and Recreational facilities retaining non-human primates of their domain names have to make certain strict compliance with their biosecurity protocols aimed toward stopping their contacts with humans”.
In to effectively prevent the spread, people have been advised to avoid touching anyone suspected to be infected with MonkeyPox. Hunters and bush meat sellers are to also stop their activities. It was added that transporting of untamed animals and their merchandise within the country and at the borders have to be suspended/restricted.
“Silos, stores, and other agricultural garage centers have to institute measures to prevent contacts and feasible infection of the MonkeyPox Virus with foodstuff.” He additionally said that “all operators of Zoos, Parks, Conservation and Recreational facilities retaining non-human primates of their domain names have to make certain strict compliance with their biosecurity protocols aimed toward stopping their contacts with humans”
Symptoms of MonkeyPox

-Initial symptoms of monkeypox include fever, body aches, and fatigue.
-The disease is similar to the smallpox virus but much less deadly.
-The disease can result in a rash that leads to red bumps on the skin.
